Chapter 3:

No one called me back the whole day yesterday even though i blew their phones off of the hook. So now i am in the passenger seat of Leo's truck. He came and got me from his sisters house saying that no one is going to answer until a few days after the storm.

As we pull up a long dirt trail a house comes into the distance. The house is really nice with a wrap around porch. The place has shudders that are blue and the house is white. In the front is a big bay window. Theirs tons of plants in the front of it that are kept up on. Behind the house a little ways is a horse stable and a barn. Theirs a little gated area i guess he trains the horses in.

"Aww." i coo looking at the massive dog running along side of the car. He's huge and a great Dane. "I have always wanted one and hes blue."

"He don't take lightly to new folks so be careful tadpole." I frown at him because i love animals. I have always wanted to live in the country so i could raise as many animals as i wanted.

Right when i step out of the truck im knocked backwards. Something huge and that weighs a ton is ontop of me with its body moving rapidly. "Chief!" Leo yells but the weight is still ontop of me. Removing my hands from my face i look up into the blue eyes of Chief Leo's Great Dane.

He doesnt look to intimidating to me. Actually his tongue is lulled to the side and hes looking at me in interest. His body is moving because hes wagging his tail and breathing heavily. I lift my hand to the beasts face and pet it softly. He barks happily and Leo says "Well i'll be."

"Come on boy." i say pushing the dog off of me. Leo already has my bags and hes on the porch waiting for me. Chief follows me untill i get onto the porch. He plants his but at the bottom of the stairs and whines at me. "Aww can he come in?" I ask looking at LEo.

"No. E aint a house dog and e reeks."

"Please Leo. I'll give him a bath." i say pouting out my bottom lip and making my eyes look big. I give him the puppy dog look and say "Please, please, please."

He crumbles his features soften and he looks away muttering stuff under his breath. "Fine but e gets a bath before e comes in."

"YAY!" i squeal jumping up and down excitedly. Running past Leo i grab my bag and go into the first room i see. Luckily its a bathroom. I strip out of my clothes putting on zebra cotton shorts and a tank top. I would usually sleep in this but washing a huge dog you cannot wear a dress. "Were's your hoes." i ask minutes later as i step onto the porch.

I clear my throat as i see him rake his eyes over my form. Leo shakes his head as to clear the daze and says "Side of the house." a little deeper than he normally does.  Nodding slowly i whistle and Chief follows me to the side of the house. 

Turning on the hoes i spray Chief off with it and surprisingly he just stands there letting me wash him off. I look around for something to clean him with but see nothing. Suddenly dog wash is in my face and Leo says "Ere's some soap."  

Taking it from him i say thanks and ask him to hold the hoes. He takes them from me as i squirt a lot of shampoo on the dog and rub my hands in it massaging his scalp. The dog stunk i must admit and once all of the dirt is off of him he looks like he should. His coat is shiny and blue, with white paws and a little white on his chest. 

"CHIEF!" i shriek after i rinse him off. He shakes himself sending water flying all over me and Leo. Laughing i look over at LEo and he has a strange look on his face a she watches me. "What?" i ask because i know i probably look like a case.

"Nothin. Ready ta go en?"

"Do you have a towel? I dont want to ruin your floors." In my hast to the was room i noticed he has hard wood floors. Leo holds up a finger and disappears inside. Minutes later he comes back out with two towels. I use one to dry Chief off the rest of the way and use the other on myself. "Can i use your shower?"

Leo smiles and says "Course, can't have the pretty lady smellin lik wet dog."

My guest room is right beside Leo's room. Before my shower he showed me it and told me where everything was. The room is pretty nice done in brown. It has a queen sized bed and a dresser with paintings of horses. I feel at home the atmosphere is nice and cozy.

Throwing on a summer dress i walk down the stairs and into the living room where Leo is looking at Chief with a frown. "I dont no how ya talked me inta it." he says without looking up.

"I just have a gift." Plunking down on the sofa beside him i reach out to pet Chief. "He's a good dog." It's true hes calm in the house all he does is sit there and look at us or lays on the rug infront of the fire place.

"Are ya hungry?" He asks and i nod my head. "Let me make Lunch." Leo goes to get up but i grab his arm.

"You dont have to i can cook." He shakes his head and says something about God gracing him with the ability so i just let it go. Bringing my feet up on the couch i get into a fetal position and rest my tired eyes.

I didn't realize i fell asleep until i hear someone chuckling loudly. My eyes snap open to see a man i dont known snapping a picture of me. I try and sit up but can't move because im weighed down by something really heavy. I look over and Chief is laying on top of me with his big head rested right beside mine. He's in the same position as me. I wonder how i didn't realize he was getting up here.

"Ya'll been sleep for ah while." I hear Leo say and hes in the door way of the kitchen and living room watching amused.

"Chief." i complain pushing on him so he will get off of me. He opens his eyes lazily and lets a small breath leave his lips. "Get up yah big lug." i say still pushing at him. "Come on up." this time he listens but i omph when he sticks his foot into my stomach. "Oh God please touch my intestines don't let them be damaged." i pray loudly as i hold my stomach.

"Are ya okay?" Leo asks coming to stand beside the couch. I put my hand out for him to grab and he pulls me up.

"I'm fine thanks."

"You mus be Snow." The man i dont know says as he sticks out his hand. "I'm Darren, Elijah's Best frien."

Shaking his hand i give him a smile and say "Nice to meet you."

Darren chuckles and says "Same. Eli called me and said Chief took a likin to you so i had to come see."

Shooting Leo the stank eye i say "Well you might as well stay and eat lunch with us."

"It's dinnertime now little lady." he says looking out of the big bay window. I follow his gaze and notice it is dark outside.

"Well dinner?"

"Fixin ta be done." Leo says turning back into the kitchen. I follow with Chief right beside me. "Hav ah seat." I sit and Chief sits beside me putting his head in my lap and closing his eyes. I pet his head softly and look up when Leo says "He's took a great likin to ya."

"I like him to." i smile. "When i leave im gonna miss him."

"Is he the only one?" Leo asks raising an eyebrow.

I think about it in fake seriousness for a minute then say "No, I'll miss Miley and little Ethan." Leo pouts and sticks out his bottom lip a little making me laugh and say "And of course you."
