For the next few years, Amber and Jessica were the weird girls at school. But as we all know, people change.
*Time skip to the first day of fourth grade*
Amber quickly got out of bed to prepare for the fourth grade. Today, Amber and Jessica were to hang out after school.
Amber put on her thick, circular glasses, a grey sweater with a silly monkey on it, blue jeans, and sneakers. She didn't know if she wanted to put on her black or red sneakers, so she put on one of each.
After putting her spongebob bacpack on, Amber ran downstairs. She ate breakfast with her parents before her mother drove her to school. The day before, she promised Jessica that she would meet her in the front entrance of their elementary school.
As Amber walked to the entrance, she noticed her classmates giving her dirty looks. "Ew. Look at her ugly sweater. Her shoes don't even match," one student said. All of the girls seemed to be wearing dresses or skirts. All except for Amber.
Amber waited at the entrance for a few minutes until Jessica arrived. "Hi Amber!" Jessica greeted. She wore a black shirt with a bright pink skirt. Her golden hair was put up into two pigtails.
"Hi Jessica!" Amber replied as they walked into the school. They walked into their classroom and sat in the back where two desks were available.
As the day proceeded, Amber was made fun of by her classmates and Jessica was to scared to speak up for Amber. She thought that they would make fun of her too.
During recess, Amber had to go to the restroom, so she asked Jessica if she could go with her. As they walked to the restrooms, a group of girls wouldn't let them enter the girls' restroom.
"Do you see the sign? This bathroom is for girls with dresses. The bathroom for people with pants is over there," a girl shoved Amber into the boys' restroom.
"Ow. It hurts," Amber whimpered as she slowly got up from the floor. The group of girls started laughing as Amber exited the restroom.
"Why do you even hang out with Ashley? She's a loser," one of the girls asked Jessica. After the group left, Jessica helped Amber.
"My name's Amber," Amber muttered.
During lunch, Jessica recieved a note from the girls that hurt Amber. It asked if she wanted to go to a sleepover with them, but Amber couldn't come. Jessica was indecisive over whether or not to accept the invitation.
The bell was supposed to ring in five minutes, so everybody started packing up. "Amber. I don't think I can hang out afterschool. I have to... go do something important with my parents today," Jessica quickly thought of an excuse. Of course Amber knew she was lying, but let her anyways.
"Okay. We could hang out tomorrow then," Amber offered. Jessica nodded. Once the bell rang, they went their separate ways.
