Butter POV
I left kenny's house about 10 minutes ago. I'm almost relieved that I left Token's house when I did, but I can't shake the sorrow that is creeping against the back of my mind for what happened to him. I'm just so drained... I don't know whether to feel grateful, sad, angry, or anxious... It's too overwhelming for me... What made things all the more miserable was my dad's reaction to all this. He had no time to hear my "excuses" and demanded that I leave Kenny's. I'm so sick of his shit. "Ding" my phone chimed and I quickly lost my train of thought. I lifted it out of my jacket pocket, briefly looking at the screen to see that Eric had sent me a message. "I know this is sudden but I need you to meet me at stark's pond plz, quickly too." "why? what's up?" I responded. He answered swiftly. "I need to tell you something..." "can't you just text it to me? I'm a little busy." "No, seriously Butters. I need to tell you something really important and it would mean a lot to me if you came to the pond. I promise you I'm not messing with you either." "Okay now that just makes me think you're going to mess with me..." He started typing but I cut him off. "I'm joking lol, I'll meet you there in 15 minutes but it's gotta be quick mkay?" "Ok, thank you." I couldn't say no to him, he was nice to me at my locker yesterday and I feel so bad for what he's gone through. I figure it'll only take a 10 minute detour to get to the pond on the way home (I'm already in trouble anyway.)
I arrived at the park a little earlier than anticipated,Eric was staring at the water with his hands in his pockets, he looked deep in thought... he didn't seem to notice me, so I called out to him. "Eric!" He jumped, startled by my shout. Turning around quickly to face him his face was pale and white. He looked as if he hadn't slept in days. "H-hey Butters! How are you?" he was shaky and hollow in his speech, "Hey Eric, are you ok?" "yeah-yeah I'm fine, just a little tired, stayed up all night hahaha." His attempt to put my worry at ease was without much effort, it was obvious something was bothering him. "Ahaha yeah, anyway what's up? You wanted to talk?" He turned a slight shade of red. "Oh yeah right sorry. I don't mean to waste your time." "It's ok Eric. but seriously, what's up?" He stood there in silence before taking a deep breath. "I know this is so sudden, and I get it if you say no... but with everyone dying I'm so afraid it might be me next. Butters... I've liked you for a while, and I-I-I know I was an asshole b-but I just... I really like you. And I was wondering if maybe... ya know you'd like to, go out or something tonight?" I was shocked to hear the words come out of his mouth, I didn't believe him! "S-sorry!?" I said in disbelief "Nevermind I knew you wouldn't say yes-" I interrupted him "No listen it's not anything that has to do with you! I have nothing against you Eric but... I'm interested in someone else. Listen I think you're a really nice guy and all but I'm already taken... I'm sorry." We stood there in silence for a few seconds before he pinched the bridge of his nose and inhaled deeply. "I understand Butters, I'm sorry for this, and for everything I've done to you." "Don't apologize for this. And it's ok, I forgive you." I opened my arms and embraced him gently, he returned the hug reluctantly but seemed to almost melt in my arms. "I know it's all scary, I'm scared too. But don't worry ok? I'm here for you" I reassured him. "T-thank you." "Ok, call me if you need anything alright? I gotta head home." I gave a slight wave and turned around to walk away. "See ya later!" I chirped as I strutted away. "See ya Butters..."
I'm really happy he apologized to me, I just hope that he doesn't take it too hard that I rejected him. And my goodness I hope Kenny doesn't find out about this, he would kill Eric if he knew what he said to me. Ah shit! I've been out for 15 minutes! I gotta get home
