𝟏 - 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐔𝐈𝐓𝐒

「 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐘 」

*Ding!*
The elevator bell rang once you hit the fourth floor. The floor of your office. You are the CEO's right hand. He was friends with your parents, but you earned your spot by your own effort. A dash of hard work with a hint of notice from someone who recognized me was just the perfect synergy!

"Good morning, Ms. (Y/N)!" Your colleagues shouted and bowed. You bowed back to them and walked straight towards your office.

*Knock* *knock*
"Ms. (Y/N)! Are you currently available right now?" Mr. Tetsu asked. Mr. Tetsu is your reliable but clumsy assistant. He's been your very first assistant ever since working in this corporation. His old habits die hard. He never seemed able to keep his tie dangling straight. You've also noticed how you could always find coffee stains somewhere on his shirt. Mr. Tetsu is always reliable and you love how entertaining his clumsiness can be.

"Yes I am. What's going on, Mr. Tetsu?" you replied back with a smile. He froze for a while, and gave you a tiny smile.

"Mr. Netero wants you to join the new recruit meeting in Meeting Room B n-now!" he answered your question. He leaned over the door frame but ceased to lean perfectly and almost pushed over a nearby vase. He caught himself immediately to stop anything else happen to your poor ceramic vase. You were startled for a bit and then laughed a bit.

"Woah.. watch out Mr. Tetsu! You know what, this never gets old! Keep on being clumsy," you said jokingly while chuckling. He laughed it off with you and formally recite his usual apology to you.

After he left, you took a deep breath and gave yourself a mini pep talk. No matter how long you've worked for this company you've never failed to feel nervous when meeting new recruits. "You're the CEO's right hand!" you tried assuring yourself.

The pep talk did calm you down but your gut feeling keeps telling you that something was off. Maybe I should check my fortune-teller app. You opened the app on your phone and saw your daily fortune.

'Celebrate today, for a new change has begun in life! Keep an eye for an old acquaintance that has come to greet you!'

New change? Frankly, during your time working here there was never anything special about your routine. Everything was a tad bit bland and you wished things could've been better than it is. Reading the first sentence made you excited but contrarily curious for the second.

"Keep an eye for an old acquaintance," you whispered to yourself. What's this supposed to mean? who are you? o-or they? You couldn't help but wonder. The curiosity has slowly made you forget about the anxiety you just had earlier.

You make your way to Meeting Room B as instructed by your clumsy assistant. You see the back of the head of two new recruits through the glass wall. They were male and both wore matching suits. That's so cute! Both of them sat facing Mr. Netero. Mr. Netero seem to have noticed you and stood up. You knocked the door and entered the room.

"Ms. (Y/N), right on time! We were just about to start the welcoming," Mr. Netero greeted you. Both of the new recruits quickly followed Mr. Netero's footsteps and stood up too.

You give Mr. Netero a bow and a smile. You aligned your attention towards the new recruits afterwards.
You locked eyes with one of the new recruits. The smile on your face faded faster than the speed of light. You slightly gasped in shock and held your breath. The second caught and locked eyes with you as well.
