A felt a cool breeze on my back and the sun caressing my face. I opened my eyes, slowly, my eyes adjusting to the light. I looked around me. Of course, I fell asleep with my school books and haven't had the chance to close the curtains. These damn exams really messed up my sleep schedule, I stayed up until 3am studying statistics. Fortunately for me, it was Sunday and I didn't have anything planned. I spent my whole Saturday reading lessons, trying to memorize them but my brain apparently didn't want to cooperate because I remembered almost nothing. In times like these, there is nothing to do, I tried reading them over and over and over again. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It was a lost cause. So I decided to let it go and just rest for the day. Truth is, I didn't have any motivation do to anything either. I looked at the clock, it was 10:23am, it was a reasonable time to wake up on a Sunday.

I climbed down the stairs. As I was still half asleep and quite clumsy, I triped and almost fell on my behind. That sure woke me up. I walked towards the kitchen and my nose was instantly filled with the delicious smell of pancakes that my dad made. My mom was sitting at the table, reading the newspapers with her cup of coffee in her hand and her usual frown on her face. Everything was calm and normal. My siter seemed to still be sleeping because she was nowhere to be found. I took a plate out of the cupboard as well as a glass that I later filled with orange juice. I sat down in front of my mom who barely looked up to me, her coffee cup still in hand.

"Good morning, how did you sleep ?
- Not that well, I fell asleep on my books, I said, frowning
- How many times do I have to tell you, don't study late in  your bed unless you are sure that you won't fall asleep.
- I know, I really thought that I wouldn't."

My dad came in.

"So, Rose, what did you plan for today ?
- I thought I would just chill, you know, Netflix, maybe some skin care too.
- Sounds good !" he gave me a warm smile, which contrasted with the slightly annoyed look that my mother gave me a few seconds earlier.

I guess she was in one of those mood where we just need to let her be and stay out of her as much as possible. Which won't be hard since I will most likely stay in my room all day.

I finished my pancakes and my glass, washed my hands and ran up the stairs. I went in my little sister's room and jumped on her bed. Gosh, I forgot how much of an heavy sleeper she was, she didn't even flinch. I looked at her, wondering how the heck I was going to wake her up. The megaphone wasn't an option, I tried once and I thought my parents were going to cut my head off. The good old basin of ice cold water went through my mind but that would mean that my parents would have to change the sheets and it definetly wasn't the day to bother them, especially my mother. What haven't I tried before ? The most obvious idea poped up in my head. Of course, turning up some metal music to maximum volume ! I went to take my phone from my room, searched what song I could put and put it right next to her ear before pressing the "play" button. I stood up, next to her bed, acting as if I was playing the guitar and throwing my head back and forth like a mad girl. She jumped out of surprise. Then, she quickly grabbed her pillow and threw it to me, aiming at my head. Sadly, I wasn't able to duck and almost fell for the second time because of my lack of balance caused by the hit of the pillow.

" Damn sis, where did you learn to aim so well ? And me who thought you had the same bad aim as mom, well, I must say that I am surprised.
- Why the hell did you wake me up ?!
- Because, today, my dear, we will spend the day together, I said, smiling.
- What do I get in exchange ? she raised an eyebrow, a playful look plastered on her face.
- You are kidding me, right ?
- Of course, stupid !"

I gave her half an hour to dress up, eat, wash her teeth and everytging a normal person does in the morning. Even though it did not necessarily look like it, me and my sisters were pretty close and got along better than most siblings do, and I am happy about it because I love them with all of my heart and I truly don't know what I would do without them being there to brighten up my days.

In the meantime, I checked my social media. I wasn't surprised to learn that the party that Tom and Charlotte, my best friends, attended yesterday night totally degenerated. Almost everybody passed out. I sighed at the news. Their parents probably murdered them when they got back home.

"Okay, what are we watching today ?
- What about some episodes of Suits ?
- Again ?
- Why not ?
- Yeah... Sounds convincing enough !"

A few hours went by, we were still watching the show, not getting bored even though we already watched the show 3 times. Suddenly, my phone signaled me that I had just received a text message. It was from my best friend, Charlotte, who sent a text in our WhatsApp group which also included Tom, my other best friend.

Ⓒ︎"hey girlll ! what are u up to rn??"
Ⓡ︎"not much, why?"
Ⓣ︎"char and i had the idea to go out this afternoon and get ice cream and we wanted to see if u were in"
Ⓡ︎"i'm sorry guys but i am spending the day with Anna*:("
(*Anna is the name of Rose's younger sister)

My sister, who, as always, was being nosy, was looking at my screen all along and she told me to go, that she had homework to finish anyways.

Ⓡ︎"well guys, looks like it's your lucky day, my sister told me that i could go"
Ⓒ︎"YAY !"
Ⓣ︎"great !! we will pass by your house in like 10 or 15mins, so get ready"

I was already dressed, although it was nothing too fancy, the last thing to do was putting some mascara on. It was the only make up I liked to wear.

I waited a few minutes and the doorbell rang. I opened the door and there they were, opening their arms to pull me into a tight hug. I hugged them back, obviously, almost choking. When they finally let go of me I said :

"Hey, I heard about the party last night, sounded... wild.
- Oh god, you have no idea !
- That one was crazy. Crazier than the others. Everyone was out of their mind.
- What about you tell me more about it on the way to the ice cream shop ?
- Gladly ! they both answered in sync."

I quickly grabbed my purse in which I put my phone and some money for the ice cream and then we went on our way, them telling me about their exciting and eventful night.

We eventually arrived to our destination, we waited for the waitress to finish preparing our order and then got out and ran to a bench in the nearest park so that the ice cream wouldn't melt. We eventually found a seat and started eating them, the cold getting to our head. We talked for hours on end, until the sun set, telling us that it's time to go back home. So that is what we did, we went back home. We still walked together a bit, since we lived more or less in the same area. We wished each other good night and went separate ways.

When I arrived home, after only 5minutes of walking, everything was calm, the only noise was the TV in front of which were sitting both of my parents. They were watching the news, nothing worth mentioning.

"Hi, I'm back !
- Hi, how was your afternoon with your friends, what did you three do ?"
- It went really well, thank you, we went to buy some ice cream that we ate in the park and we talked.
- I am glad you had a good time, you deserve it, you've been drowning in work from school lately !
- Yeah, I have had quite a lot of tests but this week should be much calmer. By the way ! What is for dinner ?
- We ordered pizza, your old parents are too lazy to cook on their own, and before you ask, yes we have a four cheese pizza.
- Thank you !"

I headed to the kitchen to take two or three slices, I don't usually eat much at dinner, I prefer eating more at breakfast and lunch. I poured myself a glass of Coca-Cola. The rest of the day wasn't interesting in any way, just the normal routine : shower, brushing the teeth, and so on.

While I laid in my bed I remembered that I had a statistic test tomorrow. I told myself "if I fail, it was meant to bo". Even though I am really hard-working and, dare I say, smart, there were still times when I got lazy and didn't want to study. And I knew that if I failed one test, I would do better on the next one. So I closed my eyes peacefully, my thoughts getting quieter and quieter as I slowly drifted off to a dreamless sleep.
