*1 month later*
Diana was surprised to find out that the quiet boy Peter Parker was spider man. Spider man and the black hood were basically Queens favourite duo at the moment, the neighbor hood super heroes, you basically never saw one without the other now. Ever since a month ago when they first met in the bank and freed the hostages and beat up a bunch of bad guys, Spiderman and Black Hood had been fighting crime all around Queens and helping the citizens, taking down bad guys, helping old ladies cross the road, getting cats down from trees and all of that stuff.
Diana had been teaching Peter what she knew, she trained him, taught him how to fight and taught him how to defend himself and he was already getting a lot better, it was fun and while she had always been independent, she was surprised that working with Spider man had actually been a lot of fun, though she was sure she would probably never admit that to Spiderman. And Diana had even found enough courage in herself to talk to Peter and Ned more than usual and had actually become good friends with the two of them.
When dianas friends had seen her hanging out with Ned and Peter they had been disgusted and ushered her to stay away from them but diana couldn't help herself, she felt more like herself when she was with Ned and Peter, she didn't have to hide who she was, she could talk about Star Wars and Lord of the rings without getting called a geek or a nerd by her friends, she could eat a bag of chips without her friends snatching them away and shoving them in the bin, she could even open up about her feelings without being told that she was overacting and that she was fine
"what are you thinking about?" Diana hears the soft kind voice of Peter Parker from beside her and she turns to look over at spiderman who was giving her a small smile, the two of them were currently sitting ontop of the roof of a tall building in the middle of Queens. The sound of traffic from below them was muffled by the distance, but the lights illuminated the city, making it look absolutely beautiful. The two of them sat there alone with their legs dangling off the side. they both had a churro in their hand and were talking about random things and looking at all of the lights in the city and the stars in the sky, they were comfortable, instead of how they were the first time that they had done this about two weeks ago
"Not much, just school and stuff" she admits with a small sigh and takes another bite of her delicious churro, she tries to cover up her sadness with a small laugh, though Peter could see right through it
"what about it? is the homework getting to hard for you, you know i could always help you, unless you're in a higher grade than me, then probably not" he said with a small chuckle, though he was mad at himself for still not being able to guess who she was, he had spent the last 4 weeks looking around the school trying to figure out who it was, though his eyes were always drawn back to look at the girl who had began talking to him and Ned a lot more frequently. When she stood with her other friends she was often quite, whenever she said something, it was quickly shut down or spoken over by her friends. The two of them had been sharing a lot of smiles here and there and when they began having full conversations, she was nothing like he had expected her to be
"No, the homework is fine, its more of a problem with my friends and stuff you know?" She says with a small sigh and he laughs awkwardly
"no not really" he says with a small chuckle but the girl didn't laugh, she felt really bad for the parker boy, he didn't have many friends, only Ned, herself, MJ and some of the people on his math team "do you want to talk about it?" he asks her softly, his full attention on her now. The two of them had become super close and Peter felt completely comfortable around her now, infact he was sure that he could trust her with anything, though he could tell she had a hard time trusting people
"well, in highschool, i guess I'm part of what you would call 'the popular group' but i just don't feel like i fit in there, infact i hate the stupid term, like honestly stereotypes are so stupid, what gives people the right to put a label on someone for how many friends they have or who they are friends with" she says and she couldn't see the expression on his face because if his mask, the only thing she could see was the bottom half of his face, since he was eating his churro, but she could sense the confusion coming off of him "i don't belong there, I'm only close with about two of them, but honestly I'm not even that close with them anymore, i made other friends and i really like them but my 'popular' friends don't want me to have anything to do with them, its stupid and i hate it"
Spiderman said nothing for a while and then opened his mouth to talk "i don't really know how to help you, i really want to help you but honestly i think that the only person who can help you is yourself, you should try to be friends with all of them but if someone say you have to choose then are they really your friend?" Spiderman asks in confusion and Diana suddenly lets out a soft yawn, it was obvious how tired she was, he was exhausted too and he could tell she had been doing this a lot long than he had.
Black hood finishes the last part of her churro and then leans over and places her head on Spiderman shoulder, she never acted like this and he was the first and only person she had opened up to and she didn't know why. Peter froze up at the warm feeling in his chest he got from her leaning on him and he didn't know what to do but then, as if on instinct, his arm went around her waist and pulled her closer to him, he could tell how sad and torn she was just like any other teenager, struggling through high school.
"hey Peter?" she asks softly, her voice was warm and quiet, she had knocked down her walls for him and he could finally see that under the cold and harsh exterior she was kind and tired, tired of her life and how society was. It was the first time she used his name and it sounded so sweet as it fell of her lips and he swore that out of all the people who had said his name, it sounded best coming from her
"yeah?" he asks softly and looks down at her
"thanks for being my friend" she whispers to him softly and closes her eyes
"thank you for being mine" he replies with a small grin and the two of them sit there for another hour, enjoying the silence, looking out at the city below them and enjoying each others company until it was time for them to go back home, Peter to his loving aunt and diana to her alcoholic mother who could barely even stand to look at he daughter anymore
