As I stand there on the stage I look around the crowd of people nervously. I look at the setting sun, deep in thought. Me, and Amber will be following in my Grandma's footsteps. My parents will be fine, but what about Amber? Someone puts a hand on my shoulder and a chill runs through me. I turn around and find myself face to face with a armed man, in Tribal military clothes.
He gestures for me to follow him and I do, and so does my family. We enter a room behind the stage and the door shuts behind us.
"We have a problem. There are four of you. Only three can participate. Three HAVE to participate. So one of you must be locked up, to be thrown out with the loser, or rewarded with the winner." I exchange looks with my family and we come to a silent conclusion.
"I'll stay behind." My mom says, and we all nod. She is clearly the right choice, especially in her condition. She has been quite sick lately with a terrible cough and a sore through. The guard took her arm and led her a wave, but not before she was able to give a quick wave. Leaving me, Amber, and my father, behind with the rest of the guards. Jewel's family also seems to have four people. I wonder who will back out there, and then allow myself to be led away to a changing room, to have a new outfit picked before the interview and picture taking. I choose a bright yellow dress for myself and a light pink one for my 12 year old sister, Amber. My dad has already been taking into a different room. I think all of us are ready for what's to come.
