*Flashback*

The smell of chemicals swept up my nose, swirling into my mind. I tried to cough, do something, anything, to breathe again. But he held the white cloth tightly against my mouth and nose, blocking any passage for air to relieve me.

I felt the dizziness creep over me, engulf me in a wave of feeling. As the world grew hazy and colors began to mix together, I locked my eyes on his. What i once thought were a warm brown eyes had turn into harsh, sickening, wanting eyes.

"You're mine Tori," he licked his lips

And darkness overcame me.

*1 year 6 months later*

I heard the sounds before I walked through the door, and smiled to myself as I shook my head. Sounds of giggling flowed out from under the door. As I reached forward and grabbed the knob, I took a deep breath and prepared myself for what was coming. Slowly I turned the knob and pushed the door open, only to be met with a scream and a body slamming into me.

"Victoria!" Cleo screamed into my ear as she squeezed me, her petite frame hugging me.

"Yep," I wheezed, the wind knocked out of me, "and i cant breathe."

"Oh! Sorry!" Cleo eased up on squeezing the life out of me and backed away. A giant grin spread across her tan face, showing her perfectly straight pearl white teeth that i had always been jealous of. She pushed her straight jet black hair out of her face.

"I missed you so much oh my god!" She squealed and looked me up and down, "you look so good!"

I laughed and hugged her again. "Thank you!"

Cleo took my wavy chestnut hair in her hand and examined it closely. "It's so long," she commented.

"I know! It took forever to grow out but its finally half way down my back!"

She looked over me again, taking in my ripped black jean shorts and flowy grey tank crop top, paired with black converse.

"And you've gone to the rocker-chick look?" She smirked at me.

"Oh please, you know I've never been girly."

She laughed and grabbed my hand, pulling me forward. "Come on, ill walk you around town, incase you forgot what it looked like."

"I have to unpack Cleo, I just got back."

"Pleaseee Vic you can do it later, its only 12:30."

I sighed and turned around, grabbing my purse and phone from the table where i had set them before. I then walked outside to where my dad was unloading boxes from a giant YOUHAUL trailer.

"Hey dad, im gonna go walk around with Cleo for a little okay? Ill be back soon," I yelled.

He turned and gave me a thumbs up.

"Just remember you have school tomorrow sweetie," he yelled back, and looked behind me to where Cleo was standing in the doorway. "Hi Cleo."

"Hi Mr. Cassidy!" Came a reply from behind me.

I took a step forward and walked down my concrete stairs leading to my porch and was met with the warm August California air i had missed so much. I breathed it in and smiled.
