"Padre? When can I see papa again?"

"Never."

Patton started to walk away, leaving the 11 year old confused and hurt. But she couldn't leave the question alone. She needed more answers.

"What about Remus? Or Virgil? Can I see them again? Please?"

"No. They didn't want you so I'm keeping you away from them. It's better this way. Besides, you still have Logan, so don't be greedy." The man says, anger building up at every word that slips out of his daughter's mouth.

"But padre, why didn't they want m-me? Maybe if I can see them again I c-can fix it."

"Rose! That is enough. Janus didn't want to deal with a bratty child, so he gave you to me. There is nothing you can do to change that. Nobody wanted you and that's final. Alright? Tell Logan that I would be pleased if he'd help me with dinner."

"Y-Yes padre."

Patton sighed as he looked at his poor child's hurt face. "Sweetie don't cry. I know the truth can be hard but you can't be such a baby about it. Why don't you do your homework until dinner. I'll even get Logan myself. I love you."

"I love you too." At this point it's an automatic response. It's the answer that won't get you hit. The one Patton wants to hear.

With that, the older man walks away, shutting the door to his only daughter's room. God, he hates it when the children ask about Janus.

When will their tiny minds grasp that they'll never see him or their siblings again?
