ja'aliyah pov:
i had no idea where brandon was taking me. i just got ready and left with him. while we were riding, he "put me on" to some songs. he turned the music practically all the way down to talk. the conversation started off casual, then turned into my life story.
"okay well, after my parents divorced my dad moved out here to cali. my mom started doing drugs and stuff to numb the pain. she overdosed one time, but she survived it. she started doing it more often, then we got taken from her. which is why we moved out here to cali with my dad."
"dang, what about your little brother," brandon asked.
"that's a long story. but basically my dad was hoeing and got a married white woman pregnant. the woman's husband i guess made her choose between him and my brother, she of course chose her husband. so-yeah," i replied.
"so you're just a walking testimony, huh," he laughed.
"yeah, i guess," i nervously laughed.
brandon pov:
i wanted to just hold her hand soo bad.
"let me see your nails," i said,
she stuck her hand out, and i grabbed it.
"awl you think you smooth," ja'aliyah said.
"yeah you feel me. imma smooth dude," i laughed.
the rest of the drive we talked and held hands. i guess you could you say i was starting to "feel her". she was really patient, different from other girls. i wanted to lock her in for good, but then i also wanted to take it slow. once we got to where we were going, i parked. we sat in the parking lot for a minute just talking. she was good with holding conversations unlike most girls here. i could tell just by how she spoke that she wasn't self-centered, which is rare in a lot of females. as taught, i opened all doors for her, including the car door.
ja'aliyah pov:
i respect how much of a gentlemen brandon was. aside from being manner able, he was all around just a nice dude. i had a lil crush on him. i still ain't know where we were, but i just went with the flow. when we got inside, i realized it was an arcade.
a/n: i don't feel like writing full conversations so imma just describe the date & put important conversations in here;)
"you think you can beat me in basketball," brandon asked.
"mane i know i can," i replied.
"you seem a lil too confident in that, but we'll see," he said.
"gotta be."
he of course won. we played a lot more games, then went to waffle house. it was pretty late at night and that was the only thing left open in our area. we ate and talked for a while. he opened up more to me. turns out he isn't as perfect as he looks.
"what you doing the rest of the night," brandon asked pulling into my driveway.
"nothing, im probably finna take a shower and go to sleep."
"awl ight, wanna come over," he asked.
oouuu, i got butterflies in my stomach.
"yeah sure," i replied.
"ight, imma wait on you."
i went inside my house to pack an overnight bag. i of course also told my dad where i was going. he didn't really mind me and my brothers going out, as long as we were responsible. i packed pajamas, an outfit for tomorrow, all my hair products, skin care, toothbrush and toothpaste. i changed to my black crocs, then left.
