Dinner time was my absolute favorate time of day! Not because of eating. But becaus it was the only time I could roam the ship and let every class see my marvelous gowns. The third class folks (who we only saw if we were in ship prizon. Or if those theives ever horrased us.) That rule was a crazy rule, I always thought for the thrid class folks would go to prizon just for glanceing at us without permition. Even in the ships prizon first class was treated higher than the third class folks. They were kept on the bottom floor with the mice and were prohibited from the upper decks unless a first class or a guared told them otherwise. Their rooms had two pairs of bunk beds and two tall, white metal shelves and a sink in the main wall. The room was white, plain white. White Beds, white shelves, white sink, white floors, white roofs, and white walls. The only color other than the people was the rust on the pipes. The third class rooms where four people were to stay for 5 weeks was smaller than my closet back home. I was not to talk or listen or come near the third class but my mother gave the third class a new name. "You are to steer clear of those dogs at all time!" Mother demanded, and we understood.
Second class citizins had the middle floor and were not treated like wild animals. The rooms had color and the lights didnt look like the ships desighner found them in a prizons trash can. There were lamps with rims. Two well made beds, a desk and a bathroom. Not huge, but cozy. The second class was aloud on the top but still was ban from any place made for us.
"Tighter, Maggie! My corset is what makes me look like a marvelous skiny, stick," I said to my servent Maggie. Mother always said to treat our "group" with respect. I always asumed to respect ALL elderly with respect and kindness. But mother and Mrs.Branerale (my homeroom teacher) explained that "our group" ment first class only. Violet and I knew to never disobey mother but we also knew to respect EVERYONE we meet, so we always respected EVERYONE when mother was away
The silver and dimond diagnal lines on my dark pink, fluffy, long, 1oo dollar dinner gown sparkled in the moonlight as I walked down the deck to the dinner room and ball room. I danced, twirled and ate a dinner made by the most finest chefs in the country.
