3rd person POV (also I don't know semis mother's name so I used Kasumi)
Shirabu groaned and dug his head into his pillow, he had woken up due to his alarm. He realised that he had been sleeping for about 15 hours. It was currently 9 in the morning and he had fallen asleep at around 6pm. He was a little confused on why he was able to get the amount of sleep he got, as mostly he only got like 5 hours without getting interrupted by someone.
He lifted his head and yawned, he usually got up at nine because there was nothing really to do, and he didn't want to get up early. He rolled out of bed finally and looked at some of the notes his father left him.
Hey you seemed to be knocked out cold so I let satori finish up your tasks
Also if you want to meet the new person it's at 9:30 she arrives.
DadHe looked at his clock, 9:05. Shirabu groaned again and rolled out of bed. He left his room, and walked down to get some food. "Finally awake Kenjirou? Good cause I made breakfast!" He knew his father wasn't the best cook, nobody really was, but he had to admit his pancakes were the only good things he made.
Tendou sat across from him. To Shirabu, Tendou was like an annoying older brother and since he was the second youngest out of everyone here he usually had to spend meal times with him. Shirabu was of course the youngest there, and that got people to baby him, which annoyed him even more.
"You won't guess what's happening today!"
"What Tendou? Let me guess, I don't have any work today? I know about the new person."
"She is taking her son in!" He looked happy. Shirabu rolled his eyes and poked at the pancakes with his fork.
"Kenjirou, eat your breakfast. If you want to meet the boy I'll let her know."
Shirabu looked up at his dad and thought for a moment. He was wanting to meet someone new, and if he was around Tendou's age he would probably be better to hang out with than the adults.
"I would like that dad." He looked back at the pancakes and had a bit of it, they weren't the best today, but still good. He glanced at the clock before finishing up his breakfast and dragging himself out of the kitchen. He had 15 minutes to spend so he just did a few morning tasks, such as cleaning his room and taking food out to some of the workers.
The thing Shirabu didn't understand is the fact that he didn't have a phone, not even a flip phone at that. Anytime he'd ask his father for one he would always look away and decline instantly, so Shirabu would have to look around for a clock or ask someone, and he didn't like social interaction. He looked around and quickly found a clock. 9:25.
"Hey Kenjirou! Bored again I see?"
"Go away Satori, it's your day off, so shouldn't you be spending it with Ushijima?"
"Nah I wanna see him! I'd probably go for Wakatoshi after I see him though."
He rolled his eyes at Tendou and then spotted a middle aged woman walk in. He didn't recognize her so he thought it was the new person, and it turned out he was right.
"Ok everyone! Say hello to our new recruit Kasumi Semi!"
Shirabu looked around for her son, but couldn't see him. He then heard a little jump from Tendou.
"Finally managed to scare you Satori. Hi again." He turned around to see an ash-blonde boy around the same height as Tendou. The boy turned to look at Shirabu and walked over to him.
"So you must be the boy I was told about."
"Mhm. I'm Kenjirou Shirabu." Shirabu held out his hand and the other boy shook it. "Eita Semi." Shirabu nodded and Tendou backed off. "So should I leave you two alone? Wakatoshi texted me." Semi nodded and let Tendou leave.
"So, you were told about how I wanted to meet you beforehand right?" Shirabu asked out of curiosity. "Yeah, I suppose your dad tells everyone about you." Semi wasn't too far off from the truth. His dad told anyone who came in about Shirabu, and Shirabu never knew why. He would get a few odd looks from people who passed, which confused him usually.
Shirabu nodded and stared off into the lab. "So how well do you know this place?" Semi asked.
"Oh I know every bit of this building. Top to bottom, back to front. I know it like the back of my hand cause I've lived here my entire life."
"And is that a good thing?"
"No. It means nothing new. And boredom kinda being the only thing I can feel sucks."
"Wait, you can't feel anything?" Semi meant it as sarcasm, but quickly changed so he shared a look of confusion and worry with Shirabu.
"You can?" asked Shirabu. Semi nodded and the other boy got up, running his fingers through his hair. "How? All I know is annoyance and boredom, why was I not told this?"
Shirabu shook and backed up. He could sense tension and he didn't like it. Semi got up and tried to get closer to him, but he kept backing up. "Shirabu- you know what let's change the topic and head to your room." Shirabu turned away and took semis wrist, taking him to his room.
When they got there, semi was surprised to see how bland it was. The walls were a white colour, and it was a little dirty too. It looked like an unfinished DIY project, and it gave Semi a feeling of isolation. They soon settled, Shirabu just sitting cross-legged on his bed and Semi was on the floor.
"So, Shirabu. How old are you?"
"Why are you asking that?"
"I don't know, I just want to talk about something."
"Well I'm seventeen."
Semi smiled awkwardly and thought for a moment. "So what's with the room?"
Shirabu looked around his room, and then back at him. "I don't know, I wanted to do something with it but couldn't find the inspiration or something like that. If it were up to me I would just ditch this room and never come back."
Semi laughed. Shirabu couldn't understand why, so he just sat there. "Why are you laughing?" Semi ran his fingers through his hair and calmed himself down before speaking.
"I'm laughing because you were saying about inspiration, you probably just need to do it with someone. Let me help." Semi stood up and rolled up his sleeves. Shirabu just sat there until he was pulled up.
"Come on Shirabu, you do want to do this right?" Shirabu looked semi up and down then showed a very small smile.
"Fine, follow me I'll show you where the tools are."
A/n: this will be a slow burn, even though I'm not the best at it.
