Chapter Six

I let out a groan at all the parcels and packages that had been delivered for me this morning. Why is today even an important day? Valentine's Day is a sham, I tell you!

"What am I even supposed to do with these?" I muttered to myself as I picked up a pink lace bra from the scores of lingerie, swimwear and pyjama sets that SavagexFenty had sent me, along with a note wishing me a happy Valentine's Day and letting me know they'd like to work on a campaign with me again sometime this year if I was up for it.

Sighing at all the deliveries, I decided to take a bubble bath before I would send out emails thanking all the brands and companies that had sent me things today. After opening all the windows in the bathroom so there would be little to no steam in the big marble room, I set Daniel in his bouncy chair a few feet away from the tub so I could keep a watchful eye on him. These days I'm terrified to leave him alone for even a second so I find myself taking baths rather than showers so I could watch him at all times. I only indulge in a long shower if Oliver's over and can watch him.

"What should we do today, Dan?" I asked my baby as I relaxed in the rose scented bubble bath while Daniel sat in his bouncy chair with his pacifier and mobile to keep him company. "Some shopping maybe? It's Zara's birthday in two weeks so we need to get her something. She's also having a birthday party. Isn't that exciting, baby? Your first birthday party invitation! How about a stroll through Central Park later? Or a visit to your cousin Artemis? She's been wanting to see you again. What do you think?"

I got a gurgle in response.

"You're right. Let's call Artemis and see if she'd like to come over," I said as I grabbed my phone and sent a Whatsapp message to my honourary niece asking her if she'd like to come over if she didn't already have other plans.

Sounds great, aunt bree!! I can be over at around 2 if that's ok with you? xx

"Alrighty, Artemis is coming over," I told Daniel who, bless his heart, genuinely looked like he could care less. As I was about to put my phone away, the device began ringing with an incoming Whatsapp call from Oliver.

"Hey, Oli," I said into the receiver as I put the phone on loudspeaker.

"Hey, Kiddo, Happy Valentine's Day."

"Thanks, you too I guess."

"What are your plans for today?"

"Nothing crazy. Got a boatload of PR this morning so I have to send our thank you notes and then Artemis is coming over this afternoon. That's about it. And you? Got a hot date?"

"I actually do."

I felt my blood run cold. "With anyone I know?"

"Nah. Remember the intern I told you about the offered to take her shirt off for me? Well, she didn't do that, thankfully. But she's a nice girl so I'm taking her out for dinner then we'll see where it goes."

"Oh. Well, good luck with that. Let me know how it goes."

"I will. I sent you something, by the way. It should arrive just before twelve."

"What did you send?" I groaned and the bastard on the other end of the line laughed. Ever since met, Oliver's been sending me scandalous Valentine's Day gifts as a joke. Last year it was a very provocative French maid's outfit. The year before that it was a sexy nurses outfit. You get the idea.
