St. Vincent's Prep School was the high school for the socialites.
Top-tier educational plans, renowned teachers, and an exquisite campus were just a few of the elements that set St. Vincent's apart from everywhere else. St. Vincent's was a place built by the wealthy for the wealthy.
Sitting at the top of the campus, earning the envy of all, was Jonas Spencer, better known as Joey. He was at the top of the class, the co-captain of his track team, and the center of his powerful social group. He was dating the school sweetheart, Emilia Pena.
He was one of St. Vincent's Elite, a group that stood at the top of the social ladder and had a bright future ahead of him.
High School was in the palm of his hand... until it wasn't.
Everyone has heard the saying, "The higher you climb, the harder you fall," and Jonas experienced this truth all too well. It all began with a fight at the start of his junior year—a situation he had never been in before. For the first time, he lost control of his reasoning, finding himself violently attacking another student until the security guards had to intervene and forcibly pull him away.
The aftermath was devastating. The school that once looked at him with admiration now regarded him with fear and suspicion. Whispers of Jonas becoming feral started to spread around campus. The moniker "Wolf" echoed in the school's hallways.
The fight marked the beginning of a new chapter in Jonas's life, and its impact was devastating. His reputation, carefully built over the years, was shattered instantly. The respect he had earned was replaced by fear and suspicion, isolating him from his peers and friends. The connections he had tirelessly built were severed, leaving him utterly alone.
The collapse was swift and severe. He was promptly kicked off the track team. Once a close confidant, Emilia began to fear him and ended their relationship. Rumors soon spread that she had started dating Lukas, Jonas's best friend of six years.
Desperate to regain his place and restore his standing, Jonas attempted to crawl back into the school's good graces. However, he soon realized the stigma of the fight was permanent, making reconciliation impossible. This left him grappling with a profound sense of betrayal and loneliness.
No longer caring for his appearance, he let his neat hair become long and disheveled. His once pristine uniform jacket was always wrinkled because of the constant scuffles with other students. He kept his button-down shirt untucked and wore his tie loosely around his neck. He became slovenly because there was no reason to prune himself for that school.
He set up his defenses and spent most of the time with headphones on and listening to loud music. This was his way of avoiding hearing the backhanded comments when he walked by.
He was the Wolf and finally reluctantly accepted this title. He no longer cared for courtesies, and when someone got too close to him, he would chase them away with a glare. If someone started a fight, he would end it.
Jonas no longer conformed to St. Vincent's and became a dark and violent rebel.
His only relief was his local gym, which he attended across town. The socialites would never approve of it, but he had been going there for the last ten years. It was his much-needed sanctuary, the one place where he could find some peace of mind.
Although the fight was the catalyst for his fall from grace, Jonas never regretted the fight itself. What he truly regretted was the nature of the people he had associated with and called his friends. He discovered the hard way that these friendships were only skin deep—valuable only as long as he remained popular.
Popularity was king, and he lost his crown.
He endured the torture of St. Vincent's with a restless soul for an entire year. He found comfort in the term ending and looked forward to the small reprieve.
