bonfires

i think people take them for granted

the flames dancing in the breeze

the light flickering across the face of a loved one

the ashes falling like snow in the winter

the memories burned into one's thoughts

the smell of charred marshmallows, tickling you senses

and i can't forget

the way the blazes illuminate the eyes of the ones i love

the laughter shared between friends

the songs sung in the spur of the moment

the dancing like nobody's eyes we're on us, but in reality, everyone was watching

the light that makes all of the monsters go away

bonfires are taken for granted

because without them, we would be lost
