MAYAS POV:
"come on, maya! we're gonna be late". i groan as i hear katie yelling for me to get in the car. "dammit, im here im here".

i rush into the car as i greet katie & alex, my best friends. since freshman year if you will. "guys, i can't believe we're seniors now",lena says as katie starts the car & drive off. "kind of scary honestly, what are you guys plans after graduation"?

"i wanna go to college, i just hope nothing or no one gets in the way". i respond. "yea, im honestly not sure yet. it's a lot to think about", katie adds.

as we talk and laugh about old school memories, we finally enter the passiac valleys parking lot. lowkey gonna miss this parking lot. "ok, guys this is it. do y'all know y'all schedule?", katie says.

"yea lena and i have english for first period" i reply as i look around at the school. "aww ok see you guys at 3rd period". katie says & we split up.

"so... do you think he's gonna be here". lena starts as i gulp, knowing exactly who she was talking about. "i- um, i honestly don't know. i could care less".

problem is, i cared. maybe more than i should have.

"well y'know, if you wanna talk im here", she says giving me a warm smile. soon we make it to our 1st period & let me tell you; ive never been so nervous in my life.

"breathe", lena coos as she notice that i am breathing heavily. i anxiety and tend to feet scared or nervous very easily. as i take my last breathe, i look at her and smile. i grab her hand as we walk into class together. luckily we get to choose seats so in between lena & some other boy.

"hello seniors!! i hope you guys are excited, this is your last year and i expect you guys to work hard", my english teacher, ms. martin says. "first you guys will be doing a 'get to know me' worksheet with the person next to you..."

she says as she hands out worksheets. i automatically look at lena as we laugh. "we already know a lot about each other, this happens every year bruh", she says.

we get started on our paper & talk about random stuff. we were sharing a pencil until it broke & i was stupid enough not to even bring pencils. so i end up asking that same boy that was next to me.

"um hey, do you think i can borrow a pencil?" i ask shyly. "bold of you to assume i brought pencils, just like you didn't". he responds nonchalantly.

"oh um sorry i asked". i say kind of pissed off due to his response. "nah im just kidding" he responds grabbing a pencil from his backpack pocket"

"haha real funny", i roll my eyes playfully. he's one of those type of guys. "hm im vinnie", he says with his hand out, indicating for me to shake it. and i did.

"well bryan, im maya". i reply. "mm pretty name for a pretty girl", he says as i blush and look down. "yea yea thanks for the pencil", i say jokingly and turn back around to lena.

as i turn around i realize lena giving that 'get it sis' looks as i shake my head & laugh. "what"? "don't think i didn't see you, maya", she says playfully.

a few minutes after working, we were done & just talking. "yo i gotta use the bathroom, ill be right back", i tell lena as i raise my hand and ask to go to the bathroom.

i walk out the classroom on my way to the stalls until i got stopped by katie. "hey, why are you in the hallway"? i ask, curiously. "i was dropping something off to a teacher, but there's something i gotta tell you", she says almost urgent.

"can it wait please, i really gotta pee", i say and run to the bathroom. as a corner appears, i turn my head looking from left to right between both halls. as if it was planned, i turned the left corner to be met with a body.

"dammit watch where you going", i say pissed until i looked up. as my eyes met with hazel brown ones, my heart dropped. i never thought i would see him again. it was him.

"m-mattia? what are you d-doing here"? i ask, meanwhile he just stares at me.

let me explain, mattia and i used to date in my sophomore year. we were doing really well & almost made it to 2 years. until he started acting different out of no where. mattia was literally the sweetest guy i could have ever met; he always cuddled me, kissed my hands, bought me gifts & even took me out on dates. then one day he cheated, and that one time turned into multiple times. he lied & manipulated me to the point i didn't even wanna be here. all the tears ive wasted on this boy... everything i gave him meant nothing.

after some time, i gave him chance after chance. & realized we were that toxic couple. angry sex & embarrassing arguments all the time for no reason at all; all because he wanted to hurt me. that is, until he got expelled. i can't say why but after that, it was last time i saw him.

as mattia doesn't say anything & we stare at each other for awhile, i just continue to walk to the bathroom.. stunned by his appearance..

the fact that he has the nerve to stare me down as if nothing happened. he know what he did & i will never forgive him for it. i hate mattia polibio.
