Hey guys. It's been awhile, hasn't it? I won't get into the dreariness of college, but I will say thanks for making it to the end of this chapter! I'm sorry the wait took so long.
I have another that's 90% completed, and will be released next week (Wednesday/Thursday)
Remembering the accuracy and sole-beginning of freshman year, has honestly been a struggle to me. I had to keep reminding myself, "It's an alternate universe," not everything should be completely accurate.
Probably the most writer's block I've ever faced, was this chapter that'd lead into the most important interaction between... two certain characters. I kid you not, I have drafts upon drafts of Chapter 5, that date all the way back to October... until I finally settled wholeheartedly on this one.
In this chapter, you're first introduced to Oscar's mom, who although doesn't get that much screen time - is one of the most loved person in Oscar and mine's life.
In the sentence, "You trusted, and... considerably loved her more than your... your teeth clench before you could finish" - this was meant to foreshadow a certain figure in Oscar's life, that he still did not trust, including his sister.
You're... quite obviously foreshadowed with a few people in Oscar's band, that'd play an important role as does Ruben in Oscar's character development.
I think my most favorite part about this chapter, was the momentary scene between Winslow, and the silhouette of his second master. For a parasol that only remembers specific increments in his past lives, he vividly remembers the outline and voice of the people he's made contracts with, but never distinctly recalls their face.
I think it'd be pretty interesting to explore his past, along with how and why Aurora (something that's been mentioned in other chapters) ran away from home.
