'Beep beep beep' went off the electronic alarm clock that sat upon Erik's bed side. 4am in the morning, as always. Looking over to the alarm clock, he pondered, I don't wanna get outta bed he thought to himself yet the fear that always lingered his soul spoke other wise.
Up and at em as always, he threw on a pair of joggers, sneakers and off he went on his early morning runs. As he ran thoughts flooded his mind, some of last night and others of the nights before. His fathers shouts lingered his brain for he'd been hearing them for years and last nights seem to have made a private room in his mind. Embarrassed as he ran, for Scarlett and Mike had heard/witnessed what only was normal to him. Thoughts of the night before brought fort other memories, memories that he pretended not to exist.
Finally he came to a halt, his breathing heavy. Bending down to place his hand over his knees for support, his green eyes now filled with tears as a tint of gold bursted through since the sun was now to rise and rays collided against him.
"Your home, I hope you didn't cut your run short" said Jose in an heavy tone,with his eyes set upon the news paper he held.
"I did not" replied Erik making his way to the kitchen to grab something to eat.
"Honey, I've been trying to get hold of lyle yet he seems to be too busy to reply back to his mother so if you speak to him let him know 18th we're having our charity event and it would mean a lot if he'd actually show up" said kitty exiting the family room , making her way towards Erik whilst lighting a cigarette.
"Don't you think it's too early for that" said Jose whilst not even lifting an eye from his paper.
Rolling her eyes at the comment made by her husband kitty made her way to the refrigerator, "Oh and tell him it's a white formal will you dear" said Kitty one last time as Erik approached the stairs.
Nodding his head Erik made his way to his room. Sadly unlike other teens he wasn't exactly allowed to 'have fun' during summer, it just meant longer hours at the count and training hence he didn't have much time to spend with his friends, nor did he have many.
**** At the Astoria hotel's court****
"Come on Erik! You and I both know you could be faster" said Brad his tennis coach. Breathing heavily as he did Erik wiped the sweat from his forehead. The scorching heat of LA really didn't hold back.
As always tennis practice went on yet luckily ended early around 4pm rather the usual of 6pm. Taking this opportunity Erik made a quick plan to go out along with his best friends, Craig and Dave.
***At the mall*** "Dude you seriously need to tell your old man to chill the fuk out" said Craig as he walked along Dave and Erik. Dave nodded along to Craig's statement as he stuck a spoon full of Ed's frozen yogurt in his mouth.
"Yeah but u guys know how he is man" replied Erik with a shrug "anyway he's gonna be busy these days with his stupid charity event coming up"
"Yeah but like the man's crazy obsessed with you, specially since Lyle moved out" said Craig making his point.
"Hey come on, it's probably cause he wants Rick to do well" said Dave trying to look at the other side of the situation.
"Yea well could we move past this?? I seriously didn't plan on hanging out with the two of you to discuss my so called 'daddy issues' said Erik rolling his eyes.
"So you admit! You got daddy issues" said Craig pointing his finger at Erik with a playful smile planted on his face.
A sigh/ chuckle escaped Erik's lips as the trio walked towards the escalator.
****an hour later**** "Hey!" Said a loud yet cheerful voice, it was Scarlett. "What are you doing here?" She asked with soft smile " I thought all you did was play tennis and had no time to spare" continued Scarlett with a playful chuckle.
"Yah.. well guess I got lucky" replied Erik shyly "So you here with Mike?"
"God no" replied Scarlett "he's definitely not the kinda kid who'd have a good time shopping, specially with his sister" said Scarlett.
'Ahem' "Oh yeahhh, meet Craig and Dave" introduced Erik "They're my best friends" continued Erik with a thin smile for he did not know what else to say.
The teens greeted one another quite nicely yet didn't talk for long for Scarlett had to get back to the hotel and Erik home.
"Damn Menendez that shy ass of yours actually knows her" said Craig looking back at Scarlett as they walked towards the exit of the mall.
"Real funny man, she's my mom's friend's kid" replied Erik
The boys offered Erik a ride back to his place yet he declined for he had a plan he stuck by so his father wouldn't know of his day out.
