Chapter dos
A week later Mary began to feel the symptoms of pregnancy. Every morning she had to race to the bathroom to throw up in the toilet. Joseph began to notice that Mary seemed to grow weaker. He began asking questions and Mary knew that she had to tell him sooner or later.
‘What is going on with Mary?’ is what was running through Joseph's mind. Every time he would ask her about what was going on she would shrug him off and it was beginning to annoy Joseph. Finally Joseph feels that he has had enough and confronts Mary.
“Mary! What is going on with you?” Joseph says sternly to Mary. Mary looks at him confused but Joseph was not going to fall for that. “Tell me Mary, I’m serious! Are you anorexic? Are you bulimic? Come on Mary, just tell me! Please!” Joseph pleaded and pleaded for Mary to tell him but Mary just continued to shake her head no. As if a light bulb had lit in Joseph's mind he finally knew what was going on. “Are you p-pregnant?” almost on cue, Mary began bawling and Joseph understood that his guess was indeed correct. ‘But how?’ thought Joseph. ‘Unless…’ Joseph came to the conclusion that Mary had cheated on him. He couldn’t say anything; he was in shock, he thought that Mary loved him. Joseph loves Mary very much and he doesn’t want to let her go; he can’t let her go but he’s torn.
Mary continues to cry. ‘He hates me’ she thought. She puts her hands to her face and falls to her knees but Joseph continues to stand still. His eyes were unreadable and he had no expression on his face at all. Mary began shaking her head and whimpering inaudible words.
“It’s not what you think,” Cried Mary. “I mean, I am pregnant but I didn’t cheat on you. I swear! I love you, trust me! God gave me this child! I didn’t cheat on you, I’m still a virgin! You’re the one I love, Joseph. Please, please believe me!” Mary continued to explain but it wasn’t helping at all. Mary looked up at Joseph but he was unfazed but behind him stood a shocked, dumbfounded Anne.
Anne couldn’t believe what she was hearing. ‘My daughter; my sweet baby girl is….Pregnant!’ was all Anne thought.
“Mom?” Mary asked looking back at her mother. Anne closed her eyes and turned to walk away. “Mom, wait! Let me explain,” Mary pleaded towards her mother who was already half way down the hall.
Joseph seemed to have shaken out of his shocked shell because he looked at Mary. All of his feelings were showing in his eyes, so much so that Mary couldn’t handle the intensity of them and had to look away. Sadness, anger, love, betrayal and so many more emotions were show in his eyes. His brows furrowed as if he was still trying to wrap his head around the whole situation but Joseph did not want to deal with any of this at the moment and began walking out of Mary’s room. Mary began to cry harder and harder; so much so that she began heaving and because she wasn’t able to receive any oxygen, fainted.
Joseph stormed out of the house. ‘How could she?’ he thought. Tears began streaming down his face. He couldn’t believe that the love of his life had done something so awful to him.
“She must have thought I was stupid! Telling me lies about how God had given her the child.” said Joseph.
Joseph began walking to school alone. When he arrived Gabriel stood at the entrance door. Gabriel spotted Joseph and ran to him.
Out of breath, Gabriel asked Joseph “Hey, have you seen Mary around?” Joseph was confused, why did he care if Mary came to school? And why was he waiting for her? Instantly Joseph jumped to conclusions yet again.
“Are you the one who got my girl pregnant?” Joseph growled out to Gabriel. The venom was dripping from his words.
Gabriel back up away from Joseph. “Dude, chill. I didn’t touch Mary. Oh and by the way, don’t be mad at her. She didn’t fool around with anybody; she’s yours. God had chosen Mary to give birth to a child to save all of humanity’s sins. She did nothing wrong and it would be pretty messed up if you left her while she was pregnant with the son of God. Oh yeah, and the baby will be a boy.” said Gabriel to Joseph.
Joseph couldn’t believe what he was hearing. ‘How can this be?’ he thought. But he knew Gabriel and Gabriel never lied; and by never, he meant ever! Joseph felt like he heard a voice that said ‘forgive’ in the wind.
Joseph turned around and ran back to Mary’s house. Behind him he heard Gabriel call out for him but he didn’t care. He knew he had some apologizing to do.
Gabriel watched as Joseph ran back the direction he came from. ‘I guess he did something to Mary and he has to go apologize. Gabriel looked up at the sky and mumbled to himself “ah, young love”. Then he walked through the school doors to continue his day.
Okay GREAT!! I hope you like this one too ._.
