I pulled up in front of Danielle's house. The little velvet box in my pocket. I didn't have to knock on the door, she was waiting on her porch swing in the front yard. I sat down next to her and put my arm around her.
"Hey babygirl, I'm gonna go talk to your mom. Can you go wait in the car?" She had no idea what was going on and I hated keeping things from her but it needed to stay that way for now. Soon, she'll understand. Right now I needed to talk to mom. She hugged me and skipped over to the car, which was still running, and turned on her music. Fall Out Boy blasted out of the speakers. I walked into the house.

"Hey Ethan." Shelby was sitting on the couch watching tv.
"Hey Shelby, can I talk to you? It's important." She turned off the tv and patted the seat next to her.
She loves you like family, she will always love you like family. My nerves were killing. I knew I was doing the right thing, but my heart was still racing.
"Shelby, your daughter and I have been together for three years. I love her more everyday, no every minute I'm with her. She is the best thing that's happened to me. She is all the happiness and everything good in this world. My weaknesses are her strengths and her weaknesses are my strengths. By saying that I would like to ask for your blessing. May I ask your daughter to marry me?"
