2 months earlier...

Get up, you have to get up. Ugh, I hate mornings. Once my eyes adjust to the dim morning light that seeps through my curtain, I peel myself out of bed for my last day of high school. Graduation day, but still no college news at all. My alarm clock tells me it's 6:37. So I pull on a pair of jeans and I red T-shirt out of my closet. Ten minutes later, my teeth are brushed, shoes on, and my hair looks adequate- gelled up and slightly to the right. Breakfast went by in a flash and next thing I know I'm in the car on my way to school. Ding-Ding! The familiar sound of my cell. "Hey babe," my girlfriend,Danielle, is right on time. "Hey you,on my way 2 skool." She'll meet me there.

I'm in my usual spot in the all-to-familiar parking lot behind the school. 7:45, almost time for the first bell. "Ethan!" Danielle. I turn around to see the auburn-haired, 5'7" girl I'd loved for the past 3 years waving me to her car across the lot. "How are you?" I said when I approached her at her car. After a hug, which is our PDA for the day, she walks next to me,
"I'm good, ready for graduation? And I still haven't gotten anything from Harvard." Her too, well this couldn't be good. The thought of neither of us getting into the colleges we've wanted to go to since we were 8, put a cloud over our sunny day. Soon we were in our cap and gowns in the school gymnasium with the entire senior class, waiting for our names to be called for our diplomas that we'd worked for the past 4 years.
