Chapter 3: James Kidd

I cursed to myself as this did not go as planned, and I knew if I did get run down I was going to get hanged. The yells of the guards were getting louder and louder as I sprinted away from the fancy home. This was not going as planned.

Ever since that day, I would get my revenge. I have planned it out for two years now, waiting for the perfect time. The perfect time to get back at her. Two years I have nearly suffocated on my pain. The pain of having my pride taken away. I had to come up with a new name for myself, a guy name. I called myself Bran Highwind. People didn't believe me when they heard my name. The rumour got around that I was Bran Highwind, thief, and the bastard son to the Highwinds. It wasn't easy these past years, I had to learn how to steal from people, and fight to live another day. Knowing that I have not ended up in prison yet for stealing. But I am on the wanted list to end my arse in prison or even sent to the gallows. I try my best to keep myself hidden in the day and steal in the night, when no one is watching or even caring to check if they had anything stolen. 

Tonight was the night I was going to get my revenge on that old bag. She was hosting a high class party at her place, to welcome the governor's son to Nassau. What a more perfect time to get my revenge. It was almost past 8 in the evening, as I quickly tied my black bandanna around my head and equipped a small knife. I didn't have enough loot to buy a sword or a gun. I made my way through the town to a fancy high class home, it wasn't her's surprisingly. I quickly hid near a palm tree, as a guard/red coat, went by. There was 4 in counting around the gate and walls of the home.

 2 were standing near the front gate and 2 were patrolling. I quickly made my move by taking out one of the guards. I made my way through a small hole in the wall, and into the courtyard. No pirates were aloud to even be here, just all people of high class. I made my way around back and found some steps where she would be. I quietly went up the steps and did a corner cover knowing that there was another guard patrolling. I whistled, to get his attention. Fully armed and ready to shoot who ever they see as they came walking over as I readied my knife in my left hand. When they were close I used the hilt to knock them out, I never really had the guts to kill em. I rounded the corner again to see the one that stole my pride.

"Do you know how much pain ye caused me?" I asked approaching her. She suddenly turned towards me in shock.

"I know who you are thief, you call yourself Bran Highwind, but that's not who you really are, is it?" I looked her dead in the eyes and choosing not to speak.

"I am giving you one chance thief, leave now, or I will call the guards." She looked at me ready to hit me with her fan.

"Tis not like I have a choice." I glared.

"Your the one who stole my pride from me. But I thank you for that." I lied and her expression changed, to a surprised and softer expression.

"You thank me?" She ask, kinda confused. I nodded and got closer with each step.

"Don't come any closer or I will call the guards." She fired back. I shook my head and ignored her.

"I am willing to come back, you taught me so....so... much." I was now in front of her. I suddenly gave her a hug, and she was still shocked.

"I thank you for that..." I whispered.

"For what, child?" She asked, finally relaxing.

"For your internal silence, ya old hag...." I plunged the blade I had up my sleeve into her back. She made a sound of pain then her body suddenly fell.

A scream was heard as I looked down from the balcony to see a lady in a dark green dress pointing at me. All the guests started bolting to get away as the guards made their way up the stairs, well this did not go as planned. I jumped off the balcony and landed in a hay cart. I quickly bolted away from this place and into the town. I knew if they catch me I was done for, done for!
