Nathaniel pov.

Nathaniel: "What are you doing here?"

I shouted but quickly covered my mouth remembering that my grandparents were in hearing distance

Nathaniel: "What are you doing here?"

I repeated myself but this time much quieter.

Emily: "Well you said we could meet again. And well it seems I have caught you at a bad time so I'll just be-"

Before Emily could go, probably out the window which is where I assume she came from considering it was open I took her hand in mine, but quickly released it with a huge blush on my face.

Nathaniel: "n-no now is a good time, I'm kind of having some issues here."

I said as I gave Emily a feint smile.
I immediately saw a change in Emily's  emotions from disappointment to happy, which made me happy. For some reason.

Nathaniel: "So what do you have in mind?

Emily: "hmm well-"

-time skip

Nathaniel: "woah you weren't joking."

I said as I stated at the moon. I never really took the time to see how beautiful it was.
Nathaniel: "it's beautiful."

I exclaimed as I turned to look at Emily.  I'd be a liar if I said she didn't look absolutely gorgeous in the moonlight. Wait did I just think that? I could feel my cheeks start to go red a bit so I quickly turned my head back up to the moon before Emily could get a glimpse of my tomato face

Emily: "It really is, I haven't been out here with someone since-"

It went silent, the only sound that could be heard was an owl's hoo and the wind flowing through the air.

Nathaniel: "Since?"

I said trying to get an answer out if Emily.

Emily: " Well...years ago, or was it decades heh silly me I can't remember, but to make a long story short whenever I'm well in the moon light with someone I always end up..hurting."

She said looking down, I felt bad, I did want to know more but I didn't want to pester her about it knowing it must hurt her to talk more about this topic.

Emily: "I'm sorry I probably made things awkward."

Nathaniel: " no not at all, although I don't know much about hanging around in the moonlight, but I do know that if you ever want to get into that topic you can talk to me."

I turned to look at Emily but instead of seeing her staring into the moonlight she was staring at me, I could tell her eyes were a bit glossy maybe because she was about to cry... oh no did I say something wrong, oh shoot I knew I would mess something up sooner or later, great she probably thinks I'm a real di-

Emily: "Thank you, Nathaniel."

I felt relieved knowing I haven't upset her in anyway.
Nathaniel: "It's nothing Emily, I mean that's what friends are for right?"

I said as I nudged Emily's shoulder. We both shared a small chuckle after that before returning our gaze back onto the moon.

Emily: "hey, Nathaniel, I have a question."

Nathaniel: "sure what is it?"

I asked as I turned to Emily's direction. She then stood up and raised her hand for me to take it.

Emily: "Would you like to dance."

Emily said with a bright smile on her face.

Nathaniel: "I-I'd love to, but I've never really danced before, heh heh."
