Iris didn't know how it came to this. One moment, she was stepping into the portal, happy to be able to go back to where she belongs and the next she sees a vampire biting a girl. The girl's face was somehow familiar, but unfortunately for her, she had no time to dwell in this thought at the moment.
Iris didn't think. Her body just moved on it's own and without knowing it, she was standing right in front of the bleeding and somewhat familiar girl with a vampire lost in bloodlust in front of her.
She was about to use her powers to first incapacitate the guy in front of her, but then two voices that she had been longing to hear for years stopped her from her movements.
"Iris"
Looking over, she wasn't disappointed at what she saw. There standing at the stairs, one at the top and the other at the bottom, were Kaien and Kaname respectively.
She opened her mouth to call out to them when she heard a click. The feeling of something hard touching the skin right above where her heart lies.
Looking down, Iris saw the tip of a gun pointing at her. Coming from none other than the white haired teen whom just moments ago seemed so lost in bloodlust.
Iris looked at the boy and saw cold eyes staring at her hatefully. Yet, she could also see that he would look at the girl behind her every once in a while with guilty and concerned filled eyes.
A second passed and everything happened in a blur. Kaname moving and standing in front of her, fangs coming out and eyes glowing blood red. Kaien jumping down the stairs and pointing his weapon, a jagged sword threateningly at the white haired boy's neck.
All this happened in a split second that if it were not for Iris's vampire eyes, she would have been none the wiser as to how it all happened.
Though one couldn't say the same for the wounded girl behind her.
Looking back at the scene in front of her, Iris couldn't help but sigh.
~~*~~
Kaname and Kaien's mind blanked out the moment they saw the anti vampire weapon brandished threateningly at Iris's chest, right where her heart is.
Memories of that day flashed before their eyes. Painful memories. They saw red.
Without missing a second, the two men moved at a very fast paced. Their movement unseen for the untrained eyes. Bloodlust oozed threateningly from their persona.
A split second later, they are now surrounding the white haired boy, powers and blade at the ready, prepared to attack if the boy do so much as twitches. For the first time in a very long time, the two friends were synchronized and teamed up together. The partnership and camaraderie in a battle that was lost years ago when Iris died now coming back and rearing it's head to the one that dared to threaten said girl.
Kaname glared at the impudent human who moments ago pointed a gun at his beloved and couldn't help but hiss threateningly at the white haired boy.
Kaien on the other hand was torn on the inside, though his face remained emotionless on the outside. On the other hand, he was angry-no he was furious at Zero for endangering Iris's life, but at the same time he doesn't want to hurt someone who he considers his own son. Though clearly, the former emotion was stronger as proved by the fact of him still holding his sword at the boy's neck and his bloodlust still clearly felt.
A sigh was heard and then a melodious voice rang out, piercing the silent that had enveloped the room.
"That's enough"
Subconsciously, Kaname and Kaien's face softened and their bloodlust stopped the moment they heard her voice. A sound they had thought they will never be blessed to hear again after that tragic day.
After a moment more of silence, Kaien sheathed back his sword while Kaname's eyes stopped glowing, his fangs becoming a little less sharp.
Seeing them relax, but still cautiously glancing back and forth between her and the white haired boy, Iris turned to the still injured girl, seeing said girl slumped to the cold floor. Her hands were holding her neck, blood flowed now from the spaces of her fingers, and eyes looking at the two men with disbelief and fear.
Kneeling down to her level, Iris finally got a good look to her face and was, to say the least, shocked.
Because what sat before her was the face of her best friend. But what confused her was that this girl was human and her best friend was far from being that.
"Juri..."
