Lights blinded my vision as they open wide, awakening me from a deep slumber. The car had hulled to a stop. Glancing outside my window was a house, a small double story with burgundy bricks and barely any windows. The grass was long, with a path that lead to a white door with a window in the middle.
home
This was my home.
I open the car door to be brought with a gush of wind hitting my face blowing my hair back, typical London weather.
"Feels good to be home, doesn't it Hannah." My dad mentions coming from around the car and walking to the front door.
It felt strange being here. We haven't been here in years, not since mum died.
I hear the sound of the front door creak open from afar so I make my way to the door into my house. Everything looks to how we left it, just with much more dust. The living room at the front of our house still had two couches with a cover draped over them and a small coffee table in front of it.
I followed my dad into the kitchen jumping up and sitting on the counter. I observed my dad checking if the power and water was still working properly.
"you can head off to bed if you want. I'll take everything out of the car and you can fix whatever you want in the morning."
I was quiet tired although I slept in the car. I nodded my head and jumped off the counter.
"Goodnight dad." I kissed him on the cheek hearing a mumble of a goodnight in return and headed for the stairs.
The stairs were wooden and would always creak every time you took a step which I found bloody annoying. My bedroom was at the end of the hallway. As I walk past the other doors, I make my way to my room, grabbing onto the door handle and opening the door.
My room was still the same. Dad and I would always travel light so everything is practically still here. My bed was against the left wall close to the window. My bedside table was next to my bed and across from that was my drawers. My closet was to the right of my room.
I felt all of the sudden a need to fall asleep. Sighing deeply i trudge my way to my bed and pull the covers up and get into bed. The sheets felt uncomfortable as I haven't slept in this bed since I was a kid.
Dad and I travelled a lot after mum died. My dads a hunter, and no not like animal hunting. My dad hunts supernatural creatures from vampires to werewolves to shapeshifters you name it. We've been around all over England. I never participate in any of this though because dad says it's not safe for me.
So I am usually stuck in a motel all by myself while dad goes hunting, but luckily I usually have a book or something to keep me company, and school, yay! We usually stay in one area for about a few months so that's why I have to attend school, I can't just stay in a motel for that long and I'm not legal yet.
I sighed and let my eyes close putting me in a slumber.
***
I groan in frustration as my alarm clock starts to go off, first day of school. We have been home for a few days now and it was my first day at school.
I seriously wasn't looking forward to it. I don't like making friends. Hell, I don't even like seeing people.
I head to my closet to find an outfit to wear, I don't need to impress anyone so I don't really care what I wear. I stick with a band t-shirt and jeans with my sneakers. I leave my hair in its natural waves and add a little bit of mascara to make my blue eyes pop a little.
I make my way down stairs to find my dad reading a newspaper and sipping his tea.
"Find anything good yet?"
"Are you already trying to get rid of me?" My dad asked putting his newspaper down bringing his full attention to me.
"I would never do that." I say, sarcasm clearly dripping in my voice.
"Yeah sure. Don't you have to go to school now?" I intentionally groan at the mention of it.
"Would you let me stay home if I accidentally broke my leg?" I asked with an innocent tone.
"No."
"Uggghhh, fine I'm going." I say moving to the front door not really in the mood for breakfast.
"Have fun sweetie, love you!" My dad yells from the kitchen as I'm heading out the door
"I'm sure I do too, deep down." i yell before closing the door and starting to walk.
The high school isn't that far from my house, I use to go past it as a kid. The wind was fresh this morning, making me wish I brought a jacket.
I start year 12 this semester and I'm so glad it's my last year. It physically pains me that I have to go to school.
My walking pace is awfully slow, trying to take my sweet ass time. I ended up failing because before I knew it I was at the front door of the office which I some how magically ending up finding.
Here goes nothing.
