A week had past... My parents gave me an option: the shrink or the PT first. I obviously picked the PT... Why not meet the person, then get out.
Mom set out a few outfits to choose from. I put my shirt on, then threw my superman hoodie on... Then I put jeans on: I wasn't doing any therapy today, it was just a meeting with the actual therapist. I bent down and tied my left pant leg: something the doc wanted me to do to keep pathogens and shit out. I yelled for my dad.
'God, I feel helpless...'
He came to my room and unfolded my wheelchair: it was against the wall, behind my door. He picked me up with ease, bridal style, and gently put my down. I rolled myself down the hall and to the kitchen. One of the chairs had been removed; making space for my chair. I ate my breakfast: eggs, toast, and Bacon. I finished and headed out the door. My dad built a ramp out of wood... So, I rolled down it and to our van; there I waited for dad.
After he put the contraption in the back, we were off to the centre. I looked at my leg the whole way down: remembering what it was like to run with two legs... Or to even sit.
'Why did this happen to me?'
A tear rolled down my cheek, and I wiped it away. I just had to deal with it... But it was so hard. I'd gotten my phone back... Guess how many messages I got- none. Well, one from Hans, but that doesn't count, considering he just sped off without helping after the crash.
About fourty-five minutes later; we arrived. The same thing: I waited for dad to put me in the chair. I wheeled to the stairs then looked over.
'Of course...'
I rolled up the incline and let my dad open the door. Mom following. We signed in and waited.
'It's so boring here... I didn't want to come...'
I sighed as I pulled out my phone, acting like I was doing something.
Someone's little girl walked over to me: she tapped the empty pant leg and looked at me innocently, "Where's your leg?" She probably wasn't any older than five. Her mom came over and grabbed her hand, "I'm sorry, miss..." I smiled slightly, "It's no problem." I looked at the woman's necklace, a cross... 'Probably religious then.' I looked at the little girl and smiled, "Well, I think God decided I didn't really need it anymore." She smiled and nodded. I looked at her mother, who now was smiling. I personally could care less about religion, but eh....
"Elsa? Elsa... Jackson?" A young girl spoke out, reminding me why I'm here. I told my parents to stay and wait. I rolled towards the younger girl; who was now leading me to a room.
We entered and she closed the door. I turned towards her, "So... I really don't want to be here... Just to get that across." I crossed my arms. She shrugged, "A lot of newcomers don't want to be here... But, it will make it possible for you to walk again." I rolled my eyes, "So, what do I call you?" She laughed, "Just call me Anna." I nodded, "Okay, Anna, just give me the details so I can go home." She nodded and pulled up a chair.
'Why can't I concentrate?'
She went through some information; the exercises and stuff. After an hour we finished, "Elsa?" I looked at her, "Yeah?" She gave me a lopsided grin, "I said you name four times..." The corner of my mouth curled up, "Sorry... I zoned out." She nodded and handed me some papers, "Our first session will be in two days," she gathered her stuff, "See you then." I nodded and slouched in my chair, "Whatever." She held the door open for me and I just rolled out.
On the ride home, mom and dad asked about the meeting. I just said it was okay and I had a session thing in two days. We stopped by Starbucks and I got an iced coffee.
We finally got home. I was put in my wheelchair and rolled inside. I went to my room and looked at all my trophies and awards....
'I'll never get another one.'
I looked down and sighed. I yelled for dad, and he laid me in bed: I asked for morphine.... Just so I could sleep. He brought me a pill. That was enough. I was out for the rest of the day.
