Sophie's brain screamed at her that this was a bad idea. Her gut told her to trust him. She followed her gut. She got into the tub, a foot on each side of Alex's legs.
"Now, I am assuming, since this is your first dead body-"
"No." she cut him off. "It's not."
His eyebrow rose again. "Oh, hmmm, no, no, no. A story for another time." he winked at her. "First corpse disposal?" he guessed.
She nodded. "Okay, I will teach you a few things most people learn through time and experience."
"Okay."
She watched and listened as he gave a slight anatomy lesson, showing the easiest way to slip the knife into the joints and pop them apart like a chicken. She watched as he expertly detached Alex's foot from his leg at the ankle. She was excited at the ease it came away. She wanted to try.
He handed her the knife and gestured to the other foot. She tried to do just like he had shown her, cut skin and connective tissue, wedge knife into the joint, twist and pop. She felt a rush of excitement move through her when all that held his foot on was excess skin. She sliced through that with ease, thanks to the super sharp Japanese steel knives.
"Look at that, You're a natural. You got trash bags?"
"Kitchen, under the sink." Joker left for a second and Sophie just stared at the foot she had in her hand.
Joker came back with the roll of trash bags and opened one up.
"Feet in here." He said. She tossed both into the bag.
"You picked that up pretty fast, you ready to move on?"
"Absolutely."
Joker knelt down next to the tub. "The knee is the next one. Still fairly easy. Most people want to saw through bones right above or just below the knee. Waste of time." He grabbed the knife, smooth as any butcher she'd ever watched work, he had the knee joint exposed and separated. He pulled the entire lower part of the leg into a new bag.
She felt nervous. There was no way she could be that smooth about all of it. She took the knife and watched her hand shake slightly.
"Its all about leverage, let me show you."
His warm hand wrapped around hers to steady the knife. Her breath caught in her chest as he guided her hand in the movements. She could barely concentrate. His arm ran along hers as they worked. The entire experience seemed surreal.
He seemed to be talking the entire time, but she couldn't hear anything over her own heart beat. It seemed to drown out everything. She could feel his hand tighten and move on hers as he sliced through skin. She felt the pop of the joint through her arm, she gasped.
Her stomach fluttered at the sight of their fingers almost intertwined on the knife handle, bloodied.
"You with me?"
His voice startled her, what the hell was going on with her right now? She licked her lips, "Yea, I'm with you."
He chuckled his hand tightened on hers as they finished the knee. She had to fight the disappointment when his hand left hers. He put the piece they had just cut off into the garbage bag with its match.
