"Growing up I didn't have the easiest life...but then again who does. No ones story is an easy one to tell, no one can say I faced no problems when I was growing up, my family was perfect. If they did they would be liars. But we need those struggles when growing up...they make us stronger, help to mold the people we'll become, that's if we overcome them...if we just sit back and let them overtake us we can't come out on the other end saying "I survived!". We just get lost in the shadows of life, victorious over nothing. It's not easy to go through something alone, and when we do that's when we are most likely to get consumed by the shadows. So I'm here today to share my story, for those of you out there that are going through what I went through, don't get lost in the shadows. I hope with my story that I can at least reach one person and help them pull themselves out of the shadows, and then I hope that person goes on to help one more person and that continues on even after I'm gone...I guess before I do this, I need to thank the new technology we have, that lets me, as a deaf person, tell my story. I also I have to tell you who I'm and take you back to the start of me...Hi my name is Lee Sun, well that's my Korean name at least. I go most commonly by Aurora, Lee Aurora Sun. I'm now 54 years old and this is my story."

"As in every good story we start back when my parents were in highschool. My father, Lucas, was a sophomore and my mom, Eleanor, a senior. Growing up together they knew each other very well, and liked each other. But when my mother got to highschool, she left my father in the shadows, but never forgetting her feels for him. They didn't speak for years, until one fateful night...They were at a party...drunk...and without a care in the world, when they ran into each other they made their feelings known. One thing lead to another, and carelessly they slipped into one of the bedrooms to be alone...." (Transition because I want it to seem like she's not telling Lucas and Eleanor's story. Might keep like this or switch back to first view.)

After that night things went back to normal. Eleanor pretended Lucas never existed, and Lucas admired Eleanor from a far. That was until Eleanor was a month late...late for cycle..(maybe take out) She pushed it into the back of her head and decided it was nothing...but then two months came and she was still late. Finally she went out and brought a pregnancy test, which came back positive. Eleanor we know to sleep around but in the past five months she hadn't slept with anyone before or after Lucas...and he was the only one she had been careless with.

Not to bore you with the details as I'm sure you know what happens next...Lucas at age 15, became a father, and Eleanor at age 17, became a mother to a beautiful baby girl, Lee Aurora Sun. (2 years difference. So Aurora born in September, Lucas in November, and Eleanor January) Eleanor expressed she never wanted children and didn't seem to be motherly towards their daughter. Lucas started to work two jobs on top of school to buy an small apartment for them. But living with Eleanor brought out a side of her he never know about. She was bipolar and had a drinking problem. By the time she graduated and was 18, she got a small job to help out, but she went off her medication for her bipolar disorder, and started to drink more. In regards to the drinking Lucas didn't say much seeing as she paid for it with the money she made but when it came to the bipolar, he was concerned and tried to get her back on her medication. She didn't listen...

When Lucas was 18 and had graduated, they eloped, Lucas truly loved and had always loved Eleanor and wanted to be the perfect family for Aurora...but she couldn't say the same. Honestly without her medications she couldn't tell what she felt...and with them she felt numb, like a zombie.

Lucas's parents started to pay for him to go to college, in hopes he would take over the family business. Although they didn't approve of his life choices, they loved him and his daughter. But 8 months into college, Lucas's father passed and he had to take over. This meant he was gone a lot, something he would regret later on, and Eleanor started drinking more.

As Aurora grew, Lucas seemed to be the only one who showed her affection. Eleanor never found the motherly instinct in her and the presences of such a needy thing annoyed her. Drunk or not when Lucas was gone she would yell at her, tell her she was the reason her life was the way it was. Even though Aurora saved her from mostly spending her nights sleeping on the streets because she gave all of her money to alcohol  Why she lost the love for the man she married, even though it had been gone since the night they spent together. One time when Lucas left the two for a week Eleanor got blacked out drunk, and when she woke up she received the news that Aurora was in the hospital for a head injury. This changed their lives forever as their once talkative 3 year-old daughter became deaf...Eleanor had no idea what happened that night, and if Lucas hadn't come home early they might have lost her...

Rather then blaming Eleanor, Lucas blamed himself and once he found someone to go on the business trips for him, he started to teach Aurora and himself sign language. Eleanor never cared to learn and in fact with Lucas home more Eleanor was gone more. Years past and this was the way their life was now.

Until one day, 8 years after the accident, things changed...Eleanor went back on her medication..she was around more...when she would tell Lucas and Aurora she loved them they believed it...Lucas who always loved her fell more in love with her. Soon they spent another night together after two months of seeing her change. After that night though as quick as Eleanor had changed she went back to her old ways. Soon she announced to Lucas she was pregnant. It was a stressful time for all of them, because Lucas would consistently be throwing out all their liquor to stop Eleanor from drinking, but she always find a way. Do to this their son, Lee Kai Daeyang (meaning in literal translation ocean) was born prematurely and was quite small. He had to stay in the hospital for a month before they brought him home.

Through all these things (Eleanor's drinking and mood swings, Aurora losing her hearing, the fights, Eleanor causing them to almost lose another child do to her drinking) Lucas tried his best to forgive her, to love her. The last straw was when he came home to her with another man in their bed and 11 year-old Aurora left to take care of a scream baby.
