" people say I am lucky to be here— but if I am so lucky— why do I feel like this ?"

Amber waved good bye to her parents and climbed back on the train.
All the 7th and 6th years looked dreadful, some more so than others. A feeling of grief hung in the air. Hogwarts was not as comforting to her at it had once been, After that battle so many  were injured, whether it was mentally or physically scars were made.

She continued to limp across the train looking for Hermione. A lot had happened since the war and even during the war that had not been discussed among friends. Amber hadn't seen Hermione, Ron or Harry since that faithful day. She hadn't shown her face at any of the funerals that had happened after the war, she simply was not well enough. She could hear whispering of Hermione's hushed voice coming from a carriage ahead. Amber loved her friends, but she had hoped all of the secrecy and mystery around them could be dropped. Voldemort was gone, there was no need for rude secrecy it was quite ignorant-

"Oh Amber" she heard Hermione gasp with relief and jumped up to hug her.
Amber stumbled back at the sudden grasp of Hermione, wincing a bit as she put pressure on her leg. "What happened to you ? Merlin, we thought you were dead surley, we-

"Fuck mione, give her a minute" Harry said cutting the water witch off from her rambling.
He smiled up at Amber, he looked worried by her appearance. She looked very different from when they last properly interacted, she had light scares on her face over her nose, she had bags under her eyes and she seemed to have lost a lot of weight.

"It's fine, I missed you all" Amber said with less emotion than they were hoping. "What's all the whispering about ?" She asked them with a straight face.
"We were talking about-

"Just how we are glad to be back" Hermione cut Ron off with stern eyes. Amber was used to this, they knew something or had a secret, and to be honest she didn't care. She hated to admit it but deep down, but she had lost respect for her three friends during the war.
Things were done that shouldn't have been done, priorities were warped. But she supposed that's just war.

She pushed her thoughts beside and sat down beside Hermione, as. They discussed the sorting ceremony and happier lighthearted topics than war.

"I hear Malfoy has been permitted to return" Harry said nearly scoffing.
Malfoy had bullied and ridiculed Amber for years. She hated him and he hated her, however there was a small part of her that wasn't bothered for the hate. There had been enough hate last year for everyone, she wanted a clean slate. Despite this, her hatred weight out her sympathy by a lot.
"Yeah well he better not be a prick this year, I'm not into it" Amber said quietly with a lack of tone.

The group drifted into their own silence. A lot of them thinking about how much Amber had changed. She used to be loud and happy, always laughing and messing around. She seemed different now  reserved and quiet. Truth be told she had lost herself during the war.
Being held captive in the Malfoy Manor changes a person. Not that anyone had known about it.

They were nearly at the school, Amber decided to get changed into her robes. She said goodbyes to her friends and began walking down the train. She looked into one of the carriages as she was passing. Draco Malfoy and his friends were sat in talking about whatever. He looked different, but she supposed everyone did. She locks eyes with Blaise Zabini. He smiles and winks at her, causing the rest of the group to look up at her.
Malfoy looks at her and scoffs, basically dismissing her instantly. She nods her head at Blaise and moved along. She was staying far away from Malfoy and his antics this year.

"Merlin" Blaise whispered to himself when Amber moved on.
"Have a crush?" Pansy said to Blaise with a smirk. Draco rolled his eyes and Theodore Nott continued to read his book. Quite literally not interested.
