"Harry I need you to stop getting into this lifestyle" Minerva said, walking around Grimmauld Place while magically removing all the empty fire-whiskey bottles from the floor.
"You talking about the dirt or the drinking?" Harry shouted back from the kitchen, as he prepared lunch.
"Both" the professor replied, as she finally reached the kitchen.
"It's fine Minny, I don't drink that much. It's just months of bottles piling up. Don't worry about it, I know what I'm doing", the boy said. His distress was very evident in the bags under his eye.
"Maybe living here wasn't the best idea Harry" the professor replied. Their relationship had gotten better after the war.
Harry distanced himself from the Weasleys, not being able to talk to them after Fred's funeral. Hermione and Ron were dating and he did not feel like being the extra right now so he would go over to Hogwarts, to distract himself. Helping with the repairing sounded good enough.
Soon, McGonagall started coming over to meet Harry, give him the dreamless sleep potion and check in on the son of her favourite students who she had come to adore over the years.
"It's nice. I never considered any place other than Hogwarts to be home. But here I find small things like pictures or letters of them. It makes me happy, I can smile looking at them laughing together. I can pretend that they're laughing right next to me, Sirius cracking a joke with Remus scolding him." Harry replied, finally setting the food down and sitting on his chair.
"That sounds nice Harry, but this place isn't suitable for a child now is it? Poor Teddy might not like it all so grim here. At least you got that god awful portrait off the wall" Minny said.
"There were 10 wizards and witches here to get it off. Such a task but I couldn't live here and listen to that. Also, Teddy likes it here, wait till I show you the only good room this house has."
Harry went on to describe the room he had recently designed and the conversation flowed easily before the lady got up to magically clean the dishes.
"I am inviting Draco Malfoy to join us for the eighth year" the elder woman announced. "Your testimony seems to have cleared his name but he hasn't been seen since, then again neither have you."
"You weren't there, I may or may not have threatened to break him out of Azkaban if they tried to imprison him." Harry said, rubbing the back of his neck. Minerva was clearly taken by surprise as her gasp was overtly audible.
"I have to be honest, when I asked you to speak on his behalf I didn't know if you would be willing to or not."
"I couldn't save many lives, you know during the war or before that. I did manage to save Draco though, but not for him to get thrown into prison right after. Although, I didn't lie. He really did make small changes that helped us a lot." Harry said, staring at a wall and then snapping out of his gaze with a cough.
"Do I really have to go to Hogwarts back Minny? I want to stay here and take care of Teddy" the green eyed boy whined, burying his head in his hands dramatically.
"Well Harry you want to be a professor and that requires that you complete the defence against dark arts course. Also, Andromeda will take good care of the boy and I have told you that he can visit whenever he wants to."
"Fine" Harry said half-heartedly.
Minerva stood tall. Harry almost never remembered the color of her hair as she always wore her witch hat. She looked like a different person entirely, nobody from school could recognise her with the leisurely smile, little hair coming out of the tight bun, relaxed shoulders and gleeful voice.
She passed an enveloped to Harry, hesitantly, and his eyes widened as he broke the seal and began reading.
"-inform you that you will be the head boy for the upcoming year at Hogwarts, alongside Hermione Granger, the head girl... You are making me the head boy? Why?" He asked, raising his head to meet eyes with the headmistress.
"People have been a little afraid to send their children to school this year. I think that seeing the you and Hermione be the head student, and giving positions to students like Ron, Luna, Ginny, Neville would really help."
Harry has been under the radar, but even he has heard the suspicions on the safety Hogwarts can provide.
"The things I do for you professor" Harry said while shaking his head and was earned by a small chuckle from the woman in front of him, he knew that she would deny if he ever brought it up. On the other hand, McGonagall sighed while remembering that the only other students who could make her laugh like that were Harry's father and godfather.
Harry rose from his chair and exclaimed, "enough of school buisness, do you want to play with Teddy. He's really working on his metamorphing skills, he turned his eyes green like mine yesterday and I took so many pictures."

"Ted, I hate leaving you but I really have to go" Harry said, arching his back to reach the level of his godson who was currently in his grandmother's arms. "Andromeda, please write to me, if you ever need me to stop by then I will. Also, send me pictures this kid is literally growing every week."
Andromeda smiled at the young boy standing before her. She had come to admire him, not only because of his strength while fighting and killing the dark lord but for the way he kept himself together after loosing all his family just for his godson. She nodded and watched as the boy got lost in a sea of young eager students.
Harry beelined for a messy bunch of walnut hair tied in a bun amongst the mass before him. Hermione was a little short to be spotted by anything other than her noticeably unruly hair.
"Harry it is wonderful to see you, I missed you" Hermione said, pulling the boy into a hug.
"I did too, you should have stopped by at Grimmauld's Place you know. Too engrossed in the new relationship life?" Harry asked his best friend with one eye raised and a childish grin.
Hermione, straightened her back and said, "we broke up Harry."
This took the other boy by a slight shock, "How? Why?"
"It didn't work, we would argue about tiny things and I think it is because we had nothing else in common to talk about. Also, I might have been too mature, he still likes to joke around which I don't mind but I would like to be with a more mature person. Do you realise where I am going with this?" Hermione asked silently towards the end.
"Mhm" he made a small noise followed by a nod. "I guess I'm glad you figured it out before it got worse" Harry said, as they started moving towards the front compartments.
As parents waved their children off, each time they saw Harry and Hermione, their shoulders would visibly relax. While some would smile at them, the others would approach to either thank them or ask them to look after their children.
"What about you and Ginny?" She asked, still walking to their compartment.
"Well, I just think there was no time with Fred passing away and me having to take care of Ted. I also have to focus in school now you know," Harry replied, fidgeting with his fingers.
"Harry Potter wants to focus on studies. I never thought the day would come" she said with a laugh as her head shot back. Harry gave her a little nudge, not feigning offence but unable to keep the slight smile off his face.
Soon a couple of redheads were in the view and the duo went to greet them.
"Hey mate, Gin, Mrs. Weasley" Harry greeted them all with hugs, as did Hermione.
Three of them headed towards the train, though they might have pushed their time too far because it seemed as though each compartment was occupied by groups of six.
Finally finding a booth with a space for 3 more, the trio found themselves settling with the most surprising company, the Slytherins.
"Parkinson, mind if we sit?" Hermione asked, with a genuine smile.
"Make yourself comfortable Granger" she replied.
