London, UK - April 2020
The couple was wrapped in each other's arms, naked bodies pressed each other, sleeping blissfully. They were entirely unaware of the dawn that was peaking above the horizon, flirting of the new day's arrival. Scar groaned when she heard the piercing alarm drumming through her REM sleep, waking her up. 'Scar', Emerson murmured and made a weak attempt to turn off the alarm.
As it was the same routine every morning, Scar had become accustomed to Emerson's tantric in the morning. They started with the alarm, him snoozing until the last minute. Then, he would bolt from bed when he would realise he was late. Finally, he would sprint across the house, gathering his items and yelling at Scar for not waking him up on time. In the meantime, Scar would have prepped their breakfast, dressed and would stand by the door, with travel mug in her hand, sipping tea, watching his tantric with a smile on her face.
Smiling to the events upon, Scar turned off the alarm, kissed his cheek, murmuring: 'Good morning, love.' Next, she opened the curtains and let the light come in. Emerson groaned and threw a pillow in front of his face, whining. 'Not fair, Scar!' She giggled and felt excited about the day.
Then, they were on the move by foot after Emerson's rather colour morning ritual. They were indifferent mood. Whilst Emerson was upset for Scar not waking him up on time, yet again, Scar smiled happily and breathed in the fresh spring air. Emerson locked their hands, giving her a reassuring squeeze. She turned her sparkling eyes towards him, a smirk playing on her lips. 'Better?' He gave a cheeky smile and stopped them to embrace her before pressing his lips to hers. 'A lot better. Although I think I missed my 'good morning' earlier.' His eyes shone with desire. Scar pressed her body against his when their kiss deepened. Scar was the first one to break from the kiss with giggles.
'Love, we need to go... Otherwise, we're gonna be late.' Scar gave him a sad smile. 'Well, we can't let the Mrs Ice Queen be late from practice', Emerson mocked with a teasing smile on his face. He pulled her towards the entrance. 'It's just another day for torture.' Scar rolled her eyes to his dramatic statement and strolled in behind him.
Scar greeted Emerson's training partners while she made her way to the lane. She started to set up her equipment for the morning practice. She furrowed her brows after she noticed her coach, Bob, was nowhere to be seen yet. She and Emerson didn't share the same coach nor the team, to their utter survival as a couple. Otherwise, they would have spent 24/7 together, and it would have driven them mad. Hence, Scar visited different teams across the globe more often than Emerson for sparring purposes.
Waiting for Bob to make his appearance, she began her warmup. She grimaced when her shoulder made a crunching noise, and it felt stiffer than before. After a couple of tries, the movement returned to normal, and Scar shrugged it off. Guess she had slept on her shoulder last night.
'Morning, Scar.' she heard a familiar voice, a voice that she had customed to listen to every morning in the past 20 years. She turned to meet her grinning coach. 'Morning, Bob.' she tilted her head irritated, the feeling also shone through her eyes. 'I know I'm late— problems to get the toddler to kindergarten this morning. Let's start. Chop chop!' Scar rolled her eyes but did what was asked. She hopped into the pool as asked, cool water tickling her skin and shiver running through her spine due to coldness. Let's do this when she stook her first stroke of the morning.
