Monza, Italy - September 2020
'HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARLING!' Emily screamed first thing on Sunday morning, making Scar fall down from the bed. 'Fuck's sake, Emily!' Scar yelled and moaned silently 'au' when she pushed her back against the bed, looking at her shin. She would get a bruise. Her friend shrugged with a mischievous grin on her lips. 'Whatever. It's your birthday! Time to get dressed - nicely.' Emily gave a pointed look when her eyes lingered on Scar's PJ. 'We have a day full of activities. One of them is the race.' She winked cheekily, and Scar threw a pillow towards her, which she dodged and laughed off. 'You have 30 minutes. Chop chop!' Emily yelled over the shoulder when she disappeared out of the door.
Scar's head fell backwards, and she groaned when the door slammed shut. 'She will drag me out, whether I'm ready or not', she mumbled before she headed to the bathroom and jumped into the shower. She had to be ready on time as Emily hated tardiness more anything else in the world.
'I'm back', Emily chirped when she was back in the room whilst Scar brushed her hair in the bathroom. 'What are you wearing?!' Emily looked mortified when she scanned Scar's sporty attire. 'My clothes', Scar shrugged before finalising her hair brushing, letting her golden flocks pour down to her waist. Emily lifted her eyebrows and shook her head. 'That won't do. You need to wear something else', Emily blurted out, running towards Scar suitcase to check her stock. Once she spotted olive green satin jumpsuit, she grinned and threw the clothe towards Scar. 'Wear this with your white sneakers. Chop chop. It's time for breakfast.' Scar rolled her eyes to Emily's dramatic reaction but did what she was asked to do. A quick change over later, the pair was on their way to breakfast.
'You didn't!' Scar awed in shock when they walked into the balcony where one of the tables was set for four people. 'Anything for the b-day girl', Emily beamed when they sat down. 'Who else is joining?'
'Britta and Seb', Emily shrugged, but the way she carried herself signalled that the topic wasn't something she was interested in talking. The mimosas arrived, and they cheered. 'Happy birthday, darling!' Emily wished again when the glasses clinked. Scar was super happy and deeply grateful. 'Thank you.' The sting of not having anything from Emerson so far created a shadow over her special day but she did her best to push it aside and focus on people around her. There was no use dwelling on matters she couldn't impact from Monza.
Britta and Seb joined the duo when they had nearly finished their second glasses of mimosas. 'I didn't say that!' Scar howled and laughed joyfully when Emily and Scar relived Scar's Beijing moments after her first gold medal. 'I clearly remember you saying you can't wait to get laid an Olympic winner!' Emily giggled when she lifted to take another sip on the drink. 'Morning!' Britta's cheerful voice interrupted them, and the ladies turned around to meet amused looks from Britta and Seb. Scar's eyes shifted towards Seb's, automatically drawing her closer to him. His eyes turned into a darker shade, which weirdly made butterflies explode in her stomach. She snapped out of her thoughts when a split second of images of her mouth was travelling down on Seb's body. What was that?!
'Don't just stand there, have a seat!' Emily pointed to the empty chairs and waved the waiter over. 'Mimosa?'
'Please.' Britta nodded and shot a dark look towards Seb who was about to protest. 'It's just a glass, Seb.' Scar beamed, however, she was painfully aware of how close Seb sat. His body heat radiated to hers, causing her to feel hot and bothered. She was startled of what she had just seen. She was sure that her cheeks had a healthy pink glow. Britta had a strange light in her eyes, which increased Scar's feelings. The drinks arrived, and Britta raised a glass for cheering. 'To Scarlette. Happy birthday! May this day be everything you wished for!'
