Bahrain - March 2021

Crickey, she was tired. She was also jet-lagged. The long overnight flight was killing her mood when she made a weak attempt to drag her feet forward. She rubbed her temple, hoping the pulsing headache to disappear soon when they made their way through the Bahrain international airport, following signs to the shuttle terminal. Scar had no idea where she was heading since she was in her tunnel mode, counting endless sheep over the fence when she sleepwalked forward. Someone led. She followed as she wanted to lay horizontally and let the darkness take over her until the following morning.

Dreaming on her forever nap, she dug out her sunglasses from her bag before pushing them up on her nose, shielding her eyes from the intense light. The humidity hit once they stepped outside at the underground parking facility, walking towards the express bus that screamed tourists. She shrugged as the trip had been familiar to her travels with the swimming circles; charter flights, organised bus rides, shares rooms, you know it, she had done it all. She flopped herself into the middle part of the bus, hoping to close her eyes for the ride. She had barely closed her eyes when she felt movement next to her. Her blue orbs met a pair of chocolate brown eyes that shone excitedly and confidently. 'Hi, I'm Shane', his cockney accent sledged through his words when he stuck his hand out. She knitted her eyebrows together when her look lingered, in-between his face and his hand. 'I'm Scar.' She grunted, hoping her body language was screaming, 'Bugger off, let me be!'

Shane had other plans. He kept talking, attempting to pick a flirt with her when her mind screamed: 'GODDAMMIT! I JUST WANT TO SLEEP!!'

'I have been working for Ferrari for three years now. Nothing beats the travelling.' Shane winked cheekily, earning an internal eye roll from Scar. She was tired and not up to hanging with a person she didn't know. 'Shane -' she began when her patience ran out. However, she bit her tongue on time when a hand appeared on Shane's shoulder.

'Mate!' Seb's voice announced his arrival. Shane's attention shifted to Seb, and Scar shot a discreet look of thankfulness towards the German when she was able to fall asleep whilst the gents caught up. She later woke up feeling refreshed, although it took her a moment to realise where she was. 'Shit.' She mumbled when she lifted her head from Shane's shoulder. 'I'm so sorry -' she went to apologise, but the words got caught in her throat when she met a pair of amused blue eyes. 'Where's Shane?' She asked Seb when she straightened up on her seat, pushing her blonde locks out of her face. 'I managed to swap seats with him. He is from my former team.' He grinned, dodging her question.

'You looked so peaceful when you slept. You can borrow my shoulder any day', He winked cheekily, earning an eye roll from her. His piercing gaze spread warmth to her body. 'I'll close my eyes for a bit before we are at the hotel', She murmured, closing her eyes before her head found his shoulder. A faint smile appeared on her lips when she felt his lips on her forehead, and she tucked under his arms. 'Sweet dreams, Liebe.' Seb's words were a lullaby to her, and she drifted back to sleep.

Her nap ended too soon for her liking. Seb nudged her repeatedly and kissed her forehead, whispering, 'Rise and shine'. She whined and got up, feeling incredible grumpy when she got out of the bus. She flashed a kind smile to the driver when he handed her bag to her. 'Seb.' She sighed when she felt his arm wrapped around her shoulder, tucking her tightly against his side. 'What?' An innocent look played on his face, yet it soon broke into a wicked grin, making her roll her eyes. She didn't understand his behaviour. They hadn't seen each other since she had left Switzerland. Sure they had texted here and there, but it had been casual, like Seb checking on how she had settled on her new job. The gloomy topics such as a divorce was bypassed. This was why the pair strolled towards the hotel entrance, wrapped around in their own worlds, teasing and flirting, totally unaware of being caught in a camera.
