3. Shine bright

Naeri huffed as she walked back home. She had just managed to convince Felix that she was not a villain like Jungkook had said. He laughed it off and joked about how funny his friend can be. Naeri did not find his friend funny at all. Or him. In fact, it only made her blood boil even more. She could only hope that Jungkook did not have any other friends that were like him. One of him was more than enough.

Because of what Jungkook did, she lost a whole day of patrolling. She doesn't know if she will get into trouble or not. If she does then she plans to blame Jungkook for what happened. It was his fault anyway. There really wasn't any need to lie. But he has Felix as his friend, who would take his side and since he is a respected agent, others would believe him.

Naeri sighed and only hoped that no one else would find out about it. It was her first day and she already failed. She looked up at the sky and saw the stars. Each one shined so brightly. She hoped to shine just as bright one day. But she was going to have to work hard. Really hard. Nobody will get in her way.

Next day

Naeri signed in like she did the other day and looked at the other people. They all got on with what they were told to do. No one came up to her. No one told her that she is in trouble. Good.  Let it be that way.

On her way to her desk she looked at every agent passing by. None of them looked at her. She looked at the other staff. They didn't seem to notice her either. Once she reached her desk, she opened her timetable and saw that she had a meeting with Captain Kim Seokjin. She felt the blood drain from her face. Did they find out? Is she going to have to leave the agency? But she just joined.

She shook her head and took a deep breath. It's probably something else. It could be anything. It might be a big meeting with other agents as well.

After encouraging herself, she headed over to the meeting. When she reached there, she saw that Jungkook was also there.

Shit. Don't tell me this is what I think it is...

She froze at the doorway. She saw Jungkook turn around and look at her. He had a straight face on. He looked serious. Her heart began to pick up and her palms went sweaty. With wobbly feet, she walked forward into the room. She stood next to Jungkook, who seemed to be the only other agent apart from her in the room, and asked him what was happening. She found that she couldn't speak so she spoke through her thoughts.

Psst Jungkook.

He looked at her, raising an eyebrow.

What's happening? Why are we here? Is it because of what happened yesterday?

He began to speak through his mind but realised that Naeri can't read his mind. He opened his mouth to speak but Seokjin came into the room.

"Good morning. Sorry for calling you here on such short notice, but this is a once in a life time opportunity that can heavily boost your position here in the agency." He began. His face held no emotions. He had a scar on his left eyebrow that made him look more intimidating than he already is. Naeri wanted to ask how he got the scar but kept quiet.

"Here in Y.B Agency we only give missions to agents after they have done at least a year of patrolling. We do this because it helps the young agent to get used to being an agent. Having the citizens look up to them as they walk around the streets, helps the agent to understand the responsibility that they hold. Patrolling also helps the agent to know the streets of the city as if it is written down on the back of their hand. However, the two of you are special cases as I will be giving you your first mission now."

Both Naeri and Jungkook looked at their captain, speechless. While Seokjin stood in front of them, waiting for them to say something. It was Jungkook who found his voice first.

"Thank you so much for choosing me, I will do my best." Jungkook bowed.

Naeri then saw Seokjin look at her.

"I will also do my best, Captain." Naeri managed to say.

He nodded at them both and turned around towards the large monitor behind him. Once he turned the screen on, they saw a picture of a man who looked like he was in his mid 40s. Besides the picture, was information about the man.

"This is Mr. Yoon. We have recently suspected him taking part in illegal business. For this mission you won't be doing anything too grand. You just have to put this tracking device inside him and put a camera on him before he goes to this place," he said pointing at a building showed on the screen "and get it back after he comes back out of this building."

Seokjin handed them a small brooch. "This is the camera." Then he handed them a thin tracking device.

"This mission is crucial. I expect no mistakes. Do you have any questions?"

Naeri looked at the tracking device in her hands. She felt responsibility of the mission fall on her shoulders. Jungkook had the brooch in his hand, he looked more calmer.

"Who is Mr. Yoon exactly?" Naeri asked. Seokjin seemed to tense up a little bit but he remained emotionless.

"That is confidential information," He replied. "All you need to know has been given to you. You need to make sure that Mr. Yoon does not know about what you have done, no one should. You may leave at 11 o'clock. If I were you, I would use this time to plan out the mission."

Naeri and Jungkook bowed to him once more and then left the room. Once they were on their way out of the building, they began to talk.

"Do you think the Captain was acting a little off? He was really vague." Naeri asked Jungkook. Jungkook didn't look at her as he replied.

"Yeah, he's definitely hiding something. I tried to read his mind but I couldn't get anything."

Naeri nodded and they both walked towards where their desks are. When they reached there, all the other new agents in that room began to crowd around them.

"Oh my god, you guys are going on a mission?"

"Isn't this your second day here? How come you're already going on a mission?"

"Yeah don't you think that's very early?"

"I want to go on a mission!"

"Yeah me too!"

They both looked at each other and gave a small nod.

one....two....three...

Naeri and Jungkook both began to run out of the room and then out of the building. Once they were sure that no one else was behind them, they sat down on a bench behind the building. Naeri sighed when she sat down.

"What now?" She asked him. He looked at his wrist. The suits that the agency gave them had a digital clock embedded into the suit on the wrist area.

"They will go off to patrol soon. We can go back to our desk when they all leave." He got more comfortable on the bench as he laid back and stretched his legs.

"How long is that?" She asked.

"Around 5 minutes."

She nodded and looked around. It suddenly felt awkward as the conversation came to an end. Tapping her feet in a rhythm that she made up, she constantly looked at the time. Time seemed to go by slowly and it seemed like years before she saw Jungkook stand up.

"Look, they're leaving." He said. He started to walk back into the building with Naeri following him.

Once they reached their desks they saw that no one was in the room apart from them two.

"I have a plan."

"So do I."

They both looked at each other. The rivalry returned.

"We have to knock him out. Then we can place the camera and the tracking device on him." Jungkook stated.

"And just how would we knock him out?" Naeri asked.

Jungkook scoffed. "What's your plan then?"

"Well..."
