Jessa stopped in front of the door. It was one of the heavy, wooden ones from before the castle had been renovated twenty years ago. Most like it were disused, still regularly cleaned, but with cobwebs hanging in the crack between the ornately carved border and the floor. However, the handle on this door was duller and the floor in front of it more worn, like somebody came here often. The usual layer of dust that often accompanied these ancient slabs of wood was not present. Jessa thought it was an entrance to one of the secret tunnels known only to the servants that had long since become veterans, and of course, her mischievous sister Snap, who seemed to know every nook and cranny of the palace. Bored, and with nothing to do, Jessa decided to see what was behind the door, after all, she was a princess. Nobody could tell her where she could and could not go. Jessa reached for the handle and roughly threw the door open. Instantly, she was hit in the face with what felt like a load of sand. But Jessa knew that this wasn’t a load of sand. She knew the light flakiness of it too well. Jessa knew, without even opening her eyes, that she was covered in glitter. Again. Shaking the glitter out of her eyes for the hundredth time, Jessa looked out to see what her glitter-obsessed sister had done this time. Jessa had found what seemed to be a disused, large supply closet. It was now coated in glitter. Heaps of the stuff covered the shelves, and every crack in the entire room was stuffed full of shimmery, sparkly glitter. But the crowning jewel, the source of the glitter, was right smack in the middle of the room. Jessa had wandered in on her sister Snap, sitting in the middle of a sandbox filled entirely with glitter. Neither sister said anything, just exchanged looks. Jessa turned around and stalked out of the room, quietly shutting the door behind her. She sighed, calling for the nearest maid. Today was going to be that kind of day.
