* BEFORE PRISON *

"Y-you what?" I heard Robbie scream as he got into the car. He was running a bit late, him being on the phone didn't help anything. I went to grab it from him, partially to be rude but he was getting on my nerves. I had a job to get to and he was late to his high school classes. "Hey, whoever this is-"
"Jake?"
My ears perked, "A-Addison?"
She visited last night, and she disappeared after leaving. Her roommate, Angie, called and seemed completely worried. We thought she might've gone missing, but we had to wait 24 hours to make a report.
"Jake! Oh God, listen to me. No matter what they say, I didn't do it. Please, please believe me," She rambled chaotically. "Woah, woah slow down. What happened?"
"I'm being interrogated. About something I am 100% sure I didn't do," She mumbled. "Jake, they think I killed two women, I'm looking at a life sentence if they find another body."
"I'm sure everything will be okay, evidence will help you out. You'll be proven innocent," I reassured her. Her voice shook so badly, it almost sounded like she was on a rollercoaster. And boy, wasn't this a big ride to get on.
She huffed, "That's what I thought until I saw the evidence. Jake, everything points toward me. Motive and everything."
"Motive?" I asked.
"Dad's mistresses, both of them were killed-"
"Supposedly, by you?"
"Yes"
We talked for another minute before a police officer cut her off and hung up the phone. I stared at the phone in disbelief. Addison. Prison. Murder. Dad's mistresses?
"Jake?" Robbie questioned me, poking me in the arm. "School, yeah that's right. Alright, let's go," I said in a weird, butchered tone. Robbie caught on. "What's gonna happen?"
"I don't even know at this point."

I was allowed to visit her once before her court date, which was tomorrow. Bright and early at 7 a.m. tomorrow. It wasn't necessarily an easy trip into the downtown area. Dad usually drove and it had been years since I visited anywhere near a police station. My mind wandered as I made my way into the building she was being held. Her case had seemed to be an open and shut case, although I knew there was more we could do. Witnesses and statements from friends were all I could think of, but that on it's own wouldn't get her far.
Dad would be my favorite person if he could show up right about now. I didn't know if he was dead or alive, M.I.A or not. No one knew exactly where our father had been. Mom never called either but she sent holiday cards from wherever she had been, Barcelona was her latest location for Christmas.
"Sir?"
I look up to see a young lady, a quite concerned young officer. "Can I help you?" she asked. "Addison Co- McCormick," I smiled awkwardly. She slides over a clipboard with a fill-out form attached to it, "I'll guide you in after you finish."
When I saw Addison, she looked more disoriented than when the police came to question her about Dad. Her eyes were a bit red, either from crying or lack of sleep. Hell, knowing her, it was probably both. "Long time no see," she tried to joke. I grimaced, "How did they arrest you?"
"I was getting out of the car, two detectives gave me an ultimatum. Either I guide them to the apartment and they arrest me in front of Angie and Eli, or I could go then. Eli- he was asleep by then, I didn't want to wake him," her voice began to tremble. Her wrists her tightly wrapped in handcuffs, but she still wore her clothes I last saw her in. "They got nothing out of me, I was so confused. I still am," she scoffed lightly. I nodded, "Dad had mistresses?"
She swallowed hard, "Ms. Misty Black, our neighbor growing up. And uh, he...his secretary."
No wonder why Mom was so carefree after his disappearance. Bet karma felt good, for once.
"Jake, I know I'm not gonna walk out of here...Hay is gonna get full custody, but try to deal with him and stick around for Eli's sake."
Hayden, her ex, was a complete douche. I didn't like him, never have but Robbie and I were all Eli was ever gonna have of Addison.
"I'm going to get you out. You hear me?" I murmured. She went to reach for my hand then paused. She didn't want to get in trouble, she always was more of a rule follower. "Don't waste your time, Jake. Whoever wanted me here made sure I'd land here."
Who would want that?
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
hey! its been a hot minute!
this has probably been one of my favorite stories to write but i started to write the story as i began to watch the show. im doing my best to go through and keep it as similar to the original storyline WITHOUT spoiling it for myself.
that being said...i want to start an "interrogation" series aka a q&a for my original characters. i dont mind doing it for the written tv characters but i didn't create them, so i dont know how realistic their answers might be. if there's any questions or curiosities for characters, just comment them :)
when i mean anything, i literally mean anything. favorite childhood memory, color, etc.
UNTIL NEXT TIME...
i love you
you're amazing
go give the world hell 🤍 - ali
