Chapter 2

From the time we walked into the great hall to the start of the ceremony, so much happened.

I first looked up to see the enchanted ceiling, which was of a beautiful black stary night. Then the four long house tables came into view, all eyes staring at us first years. This was obviously too much pressure for some kid named Neville because I could feel his hand grab mine, and when I looked at him, I could see the visible terror on his face.

We all stopped in front of a stool with an old grimy hat on it and behind the stool was a big gold podium. Professor McGonagall picked up the hat as it started to sing. After the singing, we all clapped politely but were truly confused. 

"Hermione granger" shouted McGonagall, and after a few seconds, the hat responded with Gryffindor. After that, I zoned out; a couple of minutes later, I noticed everyone was quiet as harry potter went up THE harry potter. He walked to the stool and sat there with the hat on his head for like 3 minutes ( I know it wasn't that long; it just fits with the story - Maya), mumbling something...

finally, it said "Gryffindor," and sound roared from the Gryffindor table that was cut short when the next name was called: "Rebekah Shapiro."

As I walked up to the stool, It felt as if the stool was getting further away. I fumble as I p onto the stool and felt the hat touch my head.

I got straight to it because I knew I would talk a lot. "Hi, Mr.-Mr. Hat," I say matter of factly. h-hi, he says, surprised. I go on, "I know your one job is to put people in one house, but I will do something for you, anything for you if you can not put me in one house, " "what do you want then" he replies

"you see, my dad is a Slytherin, and my mum is a Gryffindor, and I would need to be in both houses if I want to keep my life together so, please- " "are you saying put you in both Slytherin and Gryffindor?" he asks "yes please, or I don't know what will happen to me, and I can do something for you in return "I reply "well I wouldn't mind a stand-in dumbledore office-- "consider it done," I say cutting him off "well then GRYFFINDOR... AND SLITHERYIN"
