Chapter 1

As mom dropped me at Kings Cross Station, I could feel a pit in my stomach with the wait of my parent's relationship in my hands.

I said goodbye and then got on the train. I found an empty compartment and sat down, wishing that no one came into the small seating area. Soon after, the train lurched forward, implying we were on our way to Hogwarts.  

I could hear people laughing on either side of my compartment, but for me, the 7-hour ride was nothing but worry and more worry about my parents and my house. It was only until the last hour I started to come up with a plan and not unlit the boat ride did I look around for the first time.

I gasped at the site as a big castle comes into view with fire lighting the path. I clamber into a boat and touch the water. It was a refreshing cold from the 7-hour train ride.
The small wood boats got us across slower than I could swim because they were ancient boats. I don't think they changed the boats since Hogwarts was founded. The castle was on a rock with big jagged edges sprouting out everywhere. 

We step into a Hogwarts hall, and it's more beautiful than the stories my parents told me all when I was smaller.  A lady in green robes named Professor McGonagall who was leading us came to a stoped in front of a door, she turned around and said"welcome to Hogwarts, the start of term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the great hall, you will be sorted into your Houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your House will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your House, sleep in your House dormitory, and spend free time in your House common room."

"The four Houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each House has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose House points. At the end of the year, the House with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever House becomes yours."

"The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school.  I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting."

Of course like half the students I knew this but I was still scared.
