It's the fourth day of the study camp, and Jessica finally gets used to the schedule. Nathan comes up to her and hands her some kind of folder.
"I thought of some more things we could include in your class. I put it all together in this folder. Go ahead and look when you have the time." Taking the folder, she opens it and asks.
"You did all of that for my class?"
"...I am not saying you have to do it. I was just hoping that it could help you make your own decisions for the lessons plans."
"Thanks. I am surprised, though. I am not as experienced as you. Weren't we supposed to be working in pairs so I could get better as a teacher?"
"Yes. But did you really thing I wouldn't let you make any decisions on your own." Jessica shakes her head and he pushes his glasses up a little.
"I understand there are differences in our teaching experiences. But if I really thought you were hopeless, I wouldn't let you make your own decisions, would I?" and that makes her starts to smile. Clearing his throat, he starts to explain himself even farther.
"Don't get the wrong idea. You still have a lot to learn as a teacher. But I know you have it in you to get better. You did score highly on that math test after all." Feeling pumped up Jessica smiles at him and says:
"All right, I will do my best!"
"Can I count on you, then?"
"Of course!"
"Well then, take this." Holing out her hand, Nathan puts a flashlight at her open palm.
"A flashlight? Why?"
"You are going to do the nightly rounds tonight"
"Together?"
"No, it will be more efficient to split up."
"What?!" walking around the school alone in the middle of the night scares her so much and just thinking about it makes her terrified.
At that night, Jessica walks down the halls with the flashlight in one hand, the other hand over pounding heart. She knows its pathetic but still she jumps at every little sound. Giving Simon the fault for that, he scares her so much with his story about how the school is said to be haunted and how cold fingertips grabbed a teacher at night. Shaking her head to stop her from thinking about it, she stops when she hears some noises, she then realizes it is someone talking.
"Who got the idea of this stupid study camp anyway? This pisses me off and we can't even get to do our club activities." The boys are still awake talking to each other.
"On top of that Mr. Johnsen is was too hard on us, I do wish that somebody nicer would be in charge."
Being stressed up about this whole new situation, Jessica can understand how they feel, Greenwally used to be a sports school and some of the boys have matches coming up so it doesn't surprises her that they are this frustrated that they can't practice. Whishing she could do something for them, she puts her hand on the doorknob to open the door and tell them to go to sleep. Suddenly something cold touches her shoulder.
"...Miss Hower. I have been looking all over for you" Just like what happened in the story Simon told her, she squeezes her eyes and screams. Her screams echo throughout the school building.
