The day started as wonderful as it could be as she reminisced yesterday's fun. That joy didn't last long when her eyes fell on her phone on the nightstand that showed a text message from her mother.
"Drop by before going to the company."
RIcha sighed realising this was her reality. A marionette for her mother to be used whenever and however she wanted for whatever she desired.
She quickly stood up from her bed twisting her body as she stretched her back reaching for her toes.
She straightened up with a jerk feeling her back crack.
"Ouch. No wonder mom is so worried about my marriage! I have 89 years old back pains in a body of 21 year old."
She sighed walking to the joint bathroom with her hand on her back.
Wearing a pale blouse tucked in her black trousers, she took off her glasses as she stepped inside the mansion of her parents. She nodded to the servants who greeted her and soon a child came running to her.
"NOONA!" He threw his arms open and she picked him up and spun him around.
"Hello, Joseph. How are you?" She asked the kid setting him on her hip. "I'm good Noona. I missed you. You don't come and play with me anymore." The child pouted making her laugh. She was about to say something to him when a deep "beautiful" made her spin to the voice. There stood Jungkook in a crisp dark coloured suite. His hair pushed back set with gel. His mouth was curled up in a small smile.
"Jungkook! You're here!" Richa didn't even have to turn around as her mother took quick steps towards Jungkook pulling him in a warm hug which even Richa had never experienced.
"Richa! How many times have I told you not to touch servants and their children!?!" Her mother pulled a disgusted face seeing the child in her daughter's arms. Joseph tried wriggling out of her embrace to run away to cry but Richa just kept her glare at her mother.
"Mother. I think the guest here is more important than me and what I do. Give him good company." She gave a fake smile and walked upstairs to the room which was designated as her bedroom.
"Joseph, please don't cry, darling." She said as the child sniffed hugging her neck further. "You know that Mrs. Lee has problems with whatever I do. It had nothing to do with you, baby." She pecked the child's cheeks.
"You know that Noona loves you, right?" She asked and he nodded his head before whispering "I love you too".
"Then you don't have to worry but anything and anyone. No one can tell you off, alright!?! I'll make sure that Mrs. Lee doesn't speak like that too. So give Noona the smile she wants to see." And instantly Joseph broke into a huge grin making me laugh as she hugged him tightly.
Just then, door to my room knocked and in came Jungkook after she gave permission.
"Joseph, can I talk to your Noona for a bit?" The child nodded his head before pecking her right cheek and running away.
"Good morning, Jungkook." She sighed standing up from her bed walking towards the small table and the two couch chairs where she invited Jungkook to sit. "I'm sorry you had to see that early in the morning. I bet you weren't expecting to be welcomed by such an ugly scene." She gripped her fingers in a fist as she recalled the rudeness of her mother.
"True. I didn't expect to be greeted with such a beautiful laugh that could make my heart thump." Her eyes widened at his comment and she felt warmth oozing out of her cheeks.
She cleared her throat.
"Without being rude, may I ask why you are here?" Richa asked him crossing her leg making Jungkook to cross his own as well.
"I received a call from Mrs. Lee to come visit her here before going to the company." Richa internally groaned as she closed her eyes to roll her eyes.
She sighed again.
She stood up from her seat and walked towards the window unlatching the clamp and opening it wide. She took a deep breath before standing against the wall with her hands behind her hips.
All the while Jungkook's gaze trailed her elegant figure.
"Mr. Jeon." The formality made Jungkook frown. They had already decided not to use formal speech so why so suddenly.
"I want to ask you something." She paused waiting to have all his attention.
"Yes.?"
"I don't want to waste your time over something silly and useless as this so I'll be straight." She looked up at him in his eyes. "Do you want to marry me? Are you doing this willingly? Were you forced?" She spoke cautiously and elaborately just to make sure she wasn't offending him and that he wouldn't be hurt by her words.
Jungkook maintained the gaze.
The fire in his blazing brown eyes made Richa cast her glance down unable to keep up with the intensity.
Seeing that, Jungkook stood up and took firm steps towards her before stopping a foot away from her.
"Richa." The sound of her name from his manly raspy morning voice made Richa close her eyes and let out a silent breath to calm her racing heart.
"Look at me." She didn't dare.
Jungkook placed a gentle hand on her cheek where he rubbed his thumb softly a couple of times before he tilted her head up forcing her to look him in the eye.
There, Richa found the answers to her question yet she wanted to be oblivious of it.
"Richa, this is arranged. I don't know you and you don't know me. That's why we are taking our time in learning about each other so that we can make this work."
She knew the answer. She knew. Yet she wanted it to be otherwise. She wanted him to feel the same butterflies he was making her feel even though it was their first time meeting each other. She wanted him to say that he was here on his own will and that he was willing to be hers. But she didn't realise that unconsciously she was expecting. And as always, expectations hurt because they never get fulfilled.
