James and Sirius hadn't told anyone of their suspicions. They didn't know how to bring it up with Remus. He hadn't said anything about it and had even lied about it meaning he obviously didn't want them to know or wasn't ready. James and Sirius finally made up their mind to confront Remus about it. They would first tell Peter and then go talk to Remus.
"Pst Peter. Peter!" Sirius whisper shouted that day in Potions.
Peter was sitting beside Remus in front of the other two. He looked behind briefly to let them know he was listening. Slughorn was eyeing them clearly irritated.
"Anything you'd like to say Mr. Black?" he said.
"Not at the moment, no sir."
Slughorn went back to his lecture on the shrinking solution. James and Sirius quickly scribbled on some words on a torn bit of parchment and handed it to Peter.
"Don't show Remus," warned Sirius.
Peter nodded with a confused look. He quickly skimmed through the page and turned white. He let out an audible gasp which caused Slughorn to slam his had on his desk.
"Mr. Pettigrew!"
"S-Sorry sir," he whispered looking at a loss. He stole glances at Remus every now and then, slowly edging away from him every few seconds hoping he wouldn't notice. But he had.
"Can't you sit still?" asked Remus.
"I-I..."
At that moment Slughorn dismissed the class and Peter scooped up his books and ran out the door.
"What has gotten into him?" asked Remus addressing Sirius and James.
They shrugged, "We have to be somewhere. Uh we'll see you later in the common room."
"Alright. I'll be in the library with Lily if you need me."
James and Sirius nodded before quickly exiting the classroom. Remus organized his books and notes when his eyes fell on a piece of torn parchment on Peter's chair. He picked it up. His eyes becoming wider and his skin paler as he read each word.
'Do not freak out but we think Remus might be a werewolf. Don't say anything to Remus or anyone. Meet us in the courtyard so we can talk.'
Remus staggered. "No... no... please... no..."
He felt tears streaming down his cheeks. He clutched onto his hair weeping alone in the classroom.
"They know."
