The Slytherin common room predictably had been engulfed in green decor with various expensive antiques. Snape had taken his place on the large black three seater in the middle of the room. He had kept to himself after having fought with Lily. He had stood tall and confident that what he had said was right but as more time passed, he doubted himself.

I'm not wrong. Am I? No no I'm not. Surely. Yeah I'm right... But she was hurt, so is being right worth it?

He had been questioning his words very much even though it was quite obvious that he was wrong and Snape knew that too but his ego wouldn't let him admit it. At least not yet.

There was a knock on the common room door.

Why would someone knock the door like an idiot? For Salazar's sake don't you know the bloody password?

Snape ignored it and stared into the dancing flames in the fireplace. He had zoned out when the knock came again. He looked around the common room. There was just a few first year girls and a fifth year boy reading in the corner. No one seemed to stir until the third knock. The older boy looked expectantly at Snape. Snape decided to check who this blithering idiot was.

"Do you not know the password?" he asked, irritation clear in his voice.

No answer.

"Is anyone there?" he asked approaching the door.

Another knock. No answer.

"Just open the goddamn door for 'em already!" he fifth year barked, "Probably forgot the password or something," he mumbled afterwards.

Snape obeyed. He pulled open the door but to his surprise no one was there. He peered around when a he heard an odd sound. A bit like pots and pans clanging together. He looked down and ahead when his jaw dropped and his eyes widened, a kettle was hopping about. But what was truly concerning was that it had cold metallic teeth like the rest of its exterior and was headed straight at him at full speed.

With a gasp the Slytherin rushed back inside. If only he had been a second quicker. The kettle had come straight into the common room, sending everyone into a frenzy. However, oddly enough the kettle only seemed to be interested in chasing a certain greasy haired boy who was now running around the common room frantically.

"GET OUT! IT'S AFTER YOU! TAKE THAT GHASTLY THING OUT!" shrieked a first year girl.

"SNAPE! AS PREFECT I AM TELLING YOU TO GET YOUR ARSE OUT OF HERE!" boomed the fifth year as he struggled to keep balance, perched on top of a little round coffee table with the first years.

Snape quickly ran out the common room hoping the now savage appliance would stop trying to bite off his toes. He ran past several students who gave him confused looks, after all it was not everyday you got to see someone being chased by a chomping kettle. Even at Hogwarts.

It must have been those rascals Potter and Black. Oh how I despise those stuck up Gryffindors. I'm going to petrify them on the spot when I see them next time.

Lost in his thoughts, Snape has not realized when he had slowed down. Well, that was until the kettle caught up to him and placed a bite on his shoe. Shaking his foot violently he managed to get the kettle off and headed straight for the stairs. It would probably roll away down the stairs!

As soon as he reached the stairs and set foot on the first step, Snape heard an all too familiar voice. One he loathed.

"GLISSEO!" it cried.

Instantly the stairs turned into a smooth slide and Snape skidded down in the most ungraceful manner into an awaiting tub at the bottom. Soon he found himself sitting in a pool full of green slime.

He looked around to find none other than the quartet he had grown to hate, howling with laughter, accompanied by what seemed like at least half the school. But what hurt the most was that among all these people, even his Lily had not been able to hide a smile.

Working his way through the slime Snape walked rapidly past the taunts and laughs directed at him, up to his dormitory with no Lily running after him with true heartfelt words of comfort ready on the tip of her tongue. That's when Snape realized he had made a severe mistake.
