I had the crumb cake cut into pieces and place on a nice platter. The cannolies were in a box with a ribbon on the side. I was dressed nicely in a orangey sweater with a scarf, jeans and tall brown riding boots.

“Ms. Grace you look lovely!” Isaac told me as I walked into the back of the bakery.. The bakery was closed and he was just about to close when I was picking up the order.

“Thank You Isaac. You should be home with your family.” I said taking the platter of cake.

“I’m just finishing up.” He said smiling.

“Isaac will you help me with these? Carry the cannolies?” I asked and he took the box of the cannolies to the back of my car. He placed them in the back seat as I placed them on the floor behind the drivers seat.

“Ms. Grace can i ask you for something?” Isaac asked.

“Sure what’s up?”

“My grandmother is really sick. And I was wondering if I could have tomorrow off?” Isaac was one of my best employees. He got the managers job because of his hard work. He came from a great family where he did not have to work. But he chose to.

“Absolutely. Isaac you do wonders for me and my business. You never have to ask. Just let me know. Please you could use a day off. You work too much. And there are extra cookies in the store. Take them to your grandmother. She will love them.” I said smiling and his face lit up.

“Thank you so much Ms. Grace.” He said hugging me.

“Don’t worry about it.” I said as he quickly released me. Another thing about Isaac, he was about 6’5 and towered over me. When he hugged me my feet lifted off of the ground.

“Thanks again Ms. Grace.” He said leaving me as I got into my car and drove off.

Harry’s house was actually really close to my own home. Coincidence I guess. I texted Harry saying that I was near and he told me he would meet me at the ate to let me in.

“Grace welcome!” He greeted me. I let him in the car so he wouldn’t have to walk back up the long driveway.

“Nice Apron.” I laughed at his ‘Kiss the Cook’ apron he was wearing.

“Thanks. You know if you ever want to do what it says, just let me know.” I laughed at his wit.

“I’ll keep that in mind.” I said parking behind a car.

“Do you need help?” he asked.

“yes please. Could you carry the cannolies?” I asked.

“Sure.” He said open handed as I handed him the toed box. I took the plater of crumb cake.

“They look great!” he said looking at the crumb cake.

“Thanks, it’s a family recipe.” You could see the breath coming out of my mouth. It was November and I had not dressed warm enough.

“Lets get you inside before you freeze and drop the cake.”

“Mom! Gemma! Desserts here!” Harry called as we walked through the front door. You could hear footsteps running around. The house was huge and gorgeous.

“UNCLE HARRY!” Twin boys called running towards Harry. They latched onto his legs.

“Brendon, Brayden. Get off of your Uncle.” A tall girl who looked just like Harry said coming towards us. I assumed it was Gemma. “hello I’m Gemma, harry’s sister, it’s a pleasure.” She said hugging me.

“I’m Grace it’s nice to meet you.” I said smiling as she released me from a hug.

“Me and my mom have heard a lot of things about you and your cake.”
