In The Night Shadows

I looked out the window at the kingdom below me, vampires were here and there going about their daily or rather nightly business. We vampires only come out at night but the 'young vampires' such as myself can walk among humans during the day, especially when it comes to finding our life partner.

I hear a door open behind me and turned around to see whoever it was walk in. "Sorry to disturb you Princess Emily, but King Lindsay and Queen Evelyn requested for you to be sent to the Throne Room immediately." One of the maids said, curtsying as she left the room.  I cleaned up quickly and put on one of my best dresses, to match I put on some high heels. There was no way I was going to see my patents in sweats.

I enter the Throne Room, where my parents are sitting in their Thrones, I graciously walk up to them, my mother, the Queen, giving me a nod of approval for my gracious entrance. "Mother, Father, you requested to see me immediately." I said, standing before them. My Father, the King, looked me up and down before motioning for the guards, servents and maids to leave us immediately. "Yes we did my dear one. It has come to our attention by your tutor that you are of age and are ready to go out into the human world by yourself to find your life partner. We will send with you a feeder and maid who will attend to your every need. But first, and for you we will have a feast. Prepare the dining room!" My Father ordered loud enough for the maids and servents to hear.

"As you wish Mother and Father." I said, curtseying, bowing my head. "Come sit with us." My Mother said, motioning to my Throne beside hers. I picked up the hem of my dress and ascended the stairs to my Throne. I smoothed my dress over my backside and sat down with elegence. My Mother watching me with approval.

As ordered by Father, the maids and servents had prepared the dining room ready to feast in. Only the highest in authority were invited to feast with us in the dining room of Shadow Palace. An amazing blood soup was served as entrée, the main meal was bloody animal meat served with blood sauce and for desert was a lovely blood custard with blood syrup. Yes vampires can eat human food of course we add our own twist to it. Our secret ingredient: blood.

We wash our food down with a glass of the finest blood wine in the whole of Vampire City.

After the feast, I excused myself from the table, my Mother nodding at my request. As soon as I was in my room I changed back into sweats and looked out the window. I was to wait in my room for further instructions on my upcoming journey to find my life partner.
