Savannah Harper - December 20, 2013
It was the third day of Christmas break and my mom was on a business trip to Australia. Josh was hanging out at my house like he does almost every single day. It's practically like his second house.
"So, how are you and Peter?" Josh asked me.
I walked over to the cupboard and took out two Christmas themed mugs and two sachets of Cadburry hot chocolate powder.
"Great." I smiled at the thought of Peter.
Peter was Josh's best bud since they were 7. They met on the basketball team try-out. After me and Josh became best friends, he introduced me to Peter. I clicked with him instantly like how I clicked with Josh. Just like how I clicked with everyone else in the basketball team. They said it was because I play basketball and I'm a girl.
After a year we developed feelings for each other. We waited for 3 years, until we were 14, then he asked me to be his girlfriend. We're still going strong up until today. He really is a sweet guy. He makes me feel special.
"Why'd you ask?" I raised an eyebrow at him as I began stirring the powder into our water-filled mugs.
"Just checking." He shrugged.
"Do you want marshmallows in yours?" I asked him while taking out a bag of mini marshmallows and putting some on top of mine.
"Yes please." He nodded.
"Okay." I put some on his too. "How about you? Are you dating that girl you brought over to your house last week before Christmas break? The one with pretty blond hair?"
"You mean Hailey? Nah. We're not dating. She helped me study for finals." He shrugged.
"Well it seems like she has a thing for you." I handed the cup to him.
He said thank you and added "How do you know?"
"She looks at you the way Taylor looks at my brother. The look of admiration." I wiggled my eyebrows at him. My best girl friend Taylor had this thing for my brother. Which I think is really utterly gross.
"Stop it." He blushed. "Well either ways, I don't like her that way."
"You should give her a chance." I sighed.
"I like someone else." He shrugged.
"What?" My eyes went wide. "Who? Who? Who? Why didn't you tell me anything?! I'm your best friend, remember? No secrets?"
He laughed. "I was just kidding, Anna. Calm down."
I breath out with relief. "Okay."
"Well I'm going now." He got up and put on his coat.
"Where to?" I asked as I threw him his car keys.
"Umm.. A friend's." He said.
"You're going to Hailey's, aren't you?" I smirked.
He flushed red. He opened the door and shout out "Bye, Savannah! Don't forget we amd the basketball team have plans tommorow!"
I shook my head at him. Silly boy.
Josh McCallahan - Present
She's so clueless. I thought as I drove away from her house.
I have no idea where I'm gonna go. Not to Hailey's. I just want to get out of there and take my mind off of her.
I hit the steering wheel and cursed.
It's always been Peter. It's always been him that everyone admired. Especially Savannah.
He's good at everything. When he puts his mind into something, he can ace it.
The girls always fall for him, the boys wanted to be him. Parents and teachers love him.
Don't get me wrong, I love him to death. He's like a big brother to me. But why can't I have a chance?
I'm falling for a girl who I know I can't have. Peter's girl, my best friend. I knew from the start, when she dated Peter, that I can't have her.
But I can't help it.
I, Joshua Alexander McCallahan, am in love with my best friend.
