It had been two days since I had made that trip to Jared's.The trip that had been an eye-opener. The trip that should have encouragedme to back off .

Especially when April finally opened up about that little after school visit.

Apparently Jared had called her up the previous day-informed her that he would be skipping that day.

So after yelling at me for going out and storming out off my driveway, he made plans with another girl.

That arrogant jerk!

And to think I lost a night's sleep thinking about how I had made him angry.

I was silently cursing under my breath when a "BOO!" near my ear made me jump in surprise.

"When will you start behaving like a normal human being? "I shot Cal an icy glare.

"I'm far from normal little sis.I'm something commoners like you will never comprehend."I rolled my eyes.

"You on the other hand,were talking to yourself.Tell me,did you finally reach the point of insanity ?"

"I was not.Cut it.Why are you even here?"

"I came to tell you that you need to stay at home tonight -we're having dinner together. "He replied.

"Where else will I be?In case you didn't notice, I don't really have a very active social life. "I grinned.

"Good.Because Aunt Sarah is coming over. "

The grin left my face.

"Why the hell is that thing coming to our house! "I spat.

"Language,Eve.And I invited her.She's family. "He said softly.

"You know how I feel about her!We don't need her anymore,Cal.We don't need to tolerate her neglect and indifference .."He cut me off.

"She's still Mom's sister.It's what Mon would've wanted. Be there tonight. "He said firmly and walked off.

I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the wall.I hope school doesn't end today.

I went home with Cal.He was convinced I would run off somewhere.He was right,but that didn't lessen my annoyance at him.

When we reached home, I went straight to my room. I wasn't going to help with this stupid dinner.

I quickly showered and put on a violet sundress. After applying slight make-up over my face,I straightened my hair and went down.

Cal had already changed and was stirring something in a pot.

"Whoa! Dressy much? "He grinned.

"Well, that woman is all about appearances.That fake plastic .."

The doorbell made me stop mid-sentence.

Cal shot me a warning look and went to answer it.

I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. I can do this.She can't get to me.

"Well there you are Evelyn! "Her shrill voice made me cringe. It sounded like a sneer in her voice-not the lazy,drawling manner Jare

"Well bless my heart dear!Your annoyance at my presence is so obvious that it's almost hilarious. At least pretend to look happy? "
