Dad? Can you tell me about Humans and Monsters? I heard about them in school, I'm really interested!

Are you sure? It is quite a dense topic.

Yeah! I wanna learn!

Alright. This will take a while so I will do this one at a time. Which topic first? Humans, Monsters or Souls?

Humans! They sound like jerks but I wanna know more, in case I ever meet one!

Very well. Humans it is. Humans are made up of mass, Magic and Determination, like all living beings. Mass makes up the majority of their physical being while Determination makes up the majority of their Soul.

What's Dee-ter-min-a-shon?

Determination is different from determination. The latter is a feeling of purpose, a drive to push forwards through the odds. The former is a tangible-

-physical material. The rest is made of Magic. And as such, Humans are not naturally gifted with the ability to use Magic, they must learn from someone who can use it. Usually, us Monsters. They are mainly gifted with the intelligence - smarts - to make great things.... But with that intelligence comes a resent - a major disliking - to things they do not understand. That is why they disliked Monsters even before the War began.

Why did the War begin?

Because the Humans found out information I am not supposed to tell you about.  A power the Monsters have over Humans that terrified and enraged them. I will tell you about it one day, but not today.

Awe... Okay.

Continuing, Human are powerful and large in numbers. They also vary in personality far more than Monsters do. They are capable of many things, including being responsible for providing some items that I use or have modified. Like the.... Puzzle cube. The packaging said said something about a "Rubix". I saw no ruby, though. Weird.

What about Monsters?

Monsters are different. We are made mostly of Magic and of very little Determination, and only a bit more mass. As such, Monsters can use Magic as easily as Humans breathe. Whereas Humans have multiple "races", colours, Monsters have different species. Goat Monsters, Merman Monsters, Jelly Monsters, Ghost Monsters and perhaps one of the most powerful Monster species to exist, Skeleton Monsters. Each Monster species has a different amount of Determination, mass and Magic, but we all have more magic than mass and Determination.

Why did Humans make us live down here? And how??

They used their seven most powerful Mages to cast a spell to seal the remainder of Monsterkind after we lost the war. Though, not all of them agreed. But, by the time the only human left alive could help us, we were already sealed. What happened to her is unknown, but I believe changing her Trait like she did killed her eventually. As for why, fear. Fear causes hate. Hate causes rash decisions. And rash decisions caused a war.

That's..... Cruel of them.
