Ajax finally found the acquaintances after weeks of sneaking out and, honestly, he didn't even know why he was keeping it a secret because he was the leader of this shitty "pack" and they probably didn't care about him anyway. They were most likely just there for protection, food, and shelter anyway. Ah, they'd do just fine on their own.. probably.

"Don't go, Ajax-!"

"Yeah, you can't leave!"

"Psh, took him long enough."

"Je suis d'accord, je suis surpris qu'il n'ait pas fait ça plus tôt." (A/N: "I agree, I'm surprised he didn't do this sooner.")

Poppy and Skipper were the ones who begged him not to leave, but he just scoffed and looked ahead, his back facing them all.

"Quit your whining before you cause my eardrums to bleed out. You just want me here so I'll protect you. Be more like Daisy and Buster; less annoying," Ajax muttered.

"Comment connaît-il nos noms? Il ne les a jamais dites. Je pensais qu'il ne les connaissait pas du tout." Daisy uttered (A/N: "How does he know our names? He never says them. I thought he didn't know them at all.").

"Daisy! Don't say that; he just doesn't address dogs with their names," Poppy scolded her sister and Daisy seemed to quiet at that. The only dog Daisy ever took orders from was Poppy.

Ajax was curious at whether the "he" Poppy was talking about was himself or not and he was also curious to what Daisy had actually said. He shrugged it off, beginning to walk away without looking back. He left the cries of Skipper and Poppy to fade with distance, satisfied when it was finally silent.

Why hadn't he done this sooner?

Ajax walked on his trek to his acquaintances. He'd stolen traveling herbs from Buster's herb pile, so he wasn't tired nor hungry. He felt alive. Well, more alive than before. He was finally going to be with a real pack and not some pathetic excuse of one.

"Ayyy, it's Ajax!" Ajax heard a voice as he approached the meeting spot. He smirked at the familiar voice.

"Rocco!" Ajax greeted back with a bark. The two high-pawed (A/N: y'know, like a high-five but a paw-? I'm gonna shut up now- lmao).

"C'mon, join the gang! Everyone has accepted you as leader, but with a price. You have to chill, man. You're kinda rude sometimes and you gotta just chillax and go with the flooowww," (A/N: Rocco is giving me serious Crush from Finding Nemo vibes rn-) Rocco said with a cheesy head movement and a grin. Ajax rolled his eyes, but gave an amused chuff of laughter.

"No promises, but I'll try."

"I suppose that's the best I'll get out of you. So, I've got something to tell you," Rocco began as they started walking towards the pack. "We kinda got rid of the old guys because they were losers, so we've got some new recruits for you to meet."

Ajax shrugged and curtly nodded. "Yeah, they were kinda losers," he agreed.

They soon got to the pack's territory. Sure, Ajax had despised forest dogs at first and, sure, this pack lived in the forest, but, like, they weren't losers so it's okay.

Ajax looked around at the camp. He couldn't keep a grin from appearing on his face. It was amazing. There were various dens, a pile of food stacked quite high, a stream running through camp for convenient drinking water, and a spiky bramble barrier around all of the camp besides the entrance. The two had stopped on a hill not too far from the camp to admire it from a bird's eye view. The hill wasn't close enough for rival dogs or other predators to jump over the barrier, however.
