Bree
I pulled up to the jail site and I began to cringe in discomfort. I've never visited a prison in a long time and I'm completely terrified. Why?? Because my dad was locked up so many times due to him and my mother fighting. This was the exact same place my father was taken to and being back here gives me a very chilling feeling. I parked my car, got out, locked the doors, and went up to the building. I went through security and showed them my ID. "Who are you here to see?" The guard asked. "Um, Sloane Enzo Richards." I said. The guard looked at me funny as if he ain't know who the hell I was talking about. I sighed. "Sloane." I said. "I'm here to see Sloane." I added. "Follow me." He said. I followed him down a long dimly lit hallway.
We stopped in front of a large steel door. "Wait in here, he'll be in shortly." The guard said. He opened the door and I walked inside. There was a table and two chairs. It's cold as hell in this bitch. I looked around the room. It looked very cramped and uncomfortable. I'm still shocked after all the shit we've been through in high school; this nigga had the audacity to get locked up........twice. If it wasn't gone be Emani, it was for sure going to be him. From the way they're relationship was going.... both of them was bound to get locked up. I took a seat and waited for him. A door along the far wall opened and a guard brought him in. I watched Sloane walk in and take a seat across from me. His head hung low; he placed his hands on the table causing his chains to shackle. "Uncuff him." I said softly. "Ma'am I-".... "It wasn't a question." I stated. The officer quickly uncuffed Sloane. Dude didn't want no smoke. Once he was done, he exited the room and guarded the door. "Slo?" I said, tilting my head to get him to pay attention to me. He finally raised his eyes from the table. His faced held a smirk.
I scooted my chair up to the table, him watching me in complete concentration. He looked me up and down licking his lips in the process. He then smiled a kind smile. "Hi." I said softly. "How are you Sloane?" I added. He cleared his throat and smiled again. "Long time no see Bree." He said. I chuckled. "Long time no see is right Slo." I smirked. Even though it's been a long time since I've seen him, he still looked good. "But to answer your question, I'm great. Could be better though since I'm in this piece of shit." He said brushing his nose. I smiled. "I apologize. I understand what that's like." I said. He scoffed. "Do you?" He asked. He smiled and it was an enticing smile. "Cause I went 4 years of my life in this bitch with no parole, got out and got sent back again." He said. He scoffed again. "I mean I got locked up the first time for beating up a nigga that stole from me. The bitch stole from me, and I came out looking like the bad guy. Now......who knows." He snapped. I sighed not knowing what to say at this point. He's been through a lot and all I'm doing is making it worse.
I fiddled with my fingers, looking down as well. "Mama?" He said softly. I looked up at him. "I wasn't trying to make you feel bad, I apologize for that." He said. "No, don't apologize. I get it." I said. He took a deep breath and looked me in my eyes. "Did Silas visit you?" He asked. "Yeah, how did you_" ...... "I told him to." He said, cutting me off. "I know he's been lonely through all this, but most of all.... I could tell he missed you." He stated. "Yeah, I missed him too." I said. "He's been coming around more, and I've noticed a sudden change in him." I said. "What kind of change?" He asked. "His face is brighter; he's smiling and laughing more. He's not giving off that stone-cold look he used give off." I said. "He looked so angry and heart broken when I first saw him, but we talked, and he broke down." I said. "That's when I realized you being in here is taking a toll on your little brother Sloane." I added. He sighed and hung his head.
"Sloane, I know this is painful, I saw the news." I said softly. "This the second time you've gotten locked up. They're saying you won't make bail. You were so good baby, what happened?" I asked. "Doing stupid shit as usual. This time I was actually in the right. A nigga Emani was fucking around with shows up claiming that Sanaad was his. The shit fucked me up even more cause my niggas was already questionable about Salem and now Sanaad." He stated. I shook my head. That hoe Emani is something else. "Anyway, ole boy took a swing at me and we started fighting, Mani called the cops cause it was getting out of hand. Cops pulled up.... Nigga got a slap on the wrist, me......I ended up back in this mother fucker. It's true ma.... I might not make bail........not this time." He muttered. I gently grabbed his hand and gave it a squeeze. "Sloane I.......I prayed that it got better for you in the long run." I said rubbing the back of his hand with the pad of my thumb. "I mean you look good after all these years." I said with a smile. "I mean most niggas would've been looking rough by now, but you.... you still got potential Sloane." I said. "Thank you." He said. "But don't hype my head up too much, I know you settled down with Israel." He added. I pulled my hand back and pouted. "Come on Bree, don't be like that." He said. I rubbed my arms. "Be like what?" I whispered.
