Chapter Nineteen

A week later Kayla was still not speaking to her father and Colton was becoming even more nervous about his family and Kayla's family being in the estate together. He wasn't sure how everyone would react when they were together especially how their father's would act.

"Your last day before Christmas holidays. How excited are you?" Colton said to Kayla as she walked into the kitchen. She pulled at his hair playfully and pulled his head back and kissed him.

"I'm going to miss it actually," she said sadly sitting down to eat her fruit.

"You're going to miss going to school? You are such a weirdo," Colton said jokingly as he went to wash his bowl. Kayla looked up and smiled at him before handing him her bowl.

"I enjoy teaching the kids. Just like you going to work," Kayla explained to him as she followed him upstairs to get dressed. They got dressed quickly and headed out the door for work for the last time before the Christmas holidays.

"Enjoy your day at school," Colton said sarcastically as he opened his door.

"I will enjoy my day," Kayla said to him as she got in her car and drove away. Colton sped off after her hoping that the week in England would fly by. When Kayla got to the school Mike was waiting at her parking spot.

"Good morning Mike," Kayla said as she got out of the car and walked over to him.

"Good morning Kayla. How are you?" Mike asked nicely. Kayla was confused he hadn't been this nice for a while.

"I'm good and you?" Kayla asked as they began walking towards the school.

"I'm very well. What are your plans for Christmas holidays?" Mike asked as they walked into the school.

"Umm I'm going to England with Colton to his estate. You?" Kayla answered wondering why he needed to know that.

"I'm not sure yet. I was wondering if you and Colton wanted to come for dinner but obviously you cannot," Mike said nicely looking embarrassed.

"Oh. That's so nice of you. Yeah we are literally flying out tonight and we still need to pack and I'm not exactly sure when we are coming back. But when we do come back I'll give you a call and we can set something up," Kayla said feeling guilty about having such luxurious plans.

"Okay, that sounds good," Mike, said trying to be nice. The bell rang and all the students began walking to their classes.

"I have to go but I will call you and let you know. And if I don't see you at the end of the day have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year," Kayla said as she began rushing to her class.

"Yeah thanks. You too," Mike yelled to her still standing in the same place. Kayla walked quickly to her class feeling bad about leaving Mike standing there but also weirded out that he had asked them to dinner. Her last day before the break flew by and before she knew it she was driving home to pack for her vacation in England. When she did arrive home she walked quickly upstairs and grabbed a couple of large Louis Vuitton suitcases. Looking at all of the clothes in the closet she had no idea where to start. By the time Colton got home Kayla had already opened a bottle of wine and when Colton walked up to the closet and saw Kayla sitting on the floor with a full glass of wine in her hand and clothes all over the place he burst out laughing.

"I'm taking a picture of this," Colton said whipping his phone out of his pocket and snapping a few pictures of her. Kayla laughed and stood up to look at them.

"We need to keep packing. I don't really know what to pack because I don't know how your family does things," Kayla said. Colton looked at all of the clothes on the floor and sighed; he realized his wife had way too many clothes.
